Our Grey World

Chapter 3

Year 2081, age 14 

 ''I'm scared... I don't want me and my family to die'' I say to myself and suddenly, the thought of telling my sister about it first comes to my mind. I run up to my house and knock on the door.

 ''Hey Ash! You there?'' I call out. 

She opens the door "'Yup.. I am. What's the matter? I don't have any more paints left'' she says.

 ''I wanna talk...''''About what? She asked confused.

''It's a secret! Something important... A choice between life and death''Intrigued and worried she ushers me into her room.I could see it on her face, she was nervous about this planet too. She volunteers in the PCL and gets a chance to work with top climate scientists only to find out that this planet has no hope, she too has now lost hope. Mom wasn't well too, and that just adds to her worries. 

''So what is it that you want to tell me about?'' She asked.

 ''I'll get to the point!'' I continued ''This planet won't survive and you know that, don't you?'' 

''I do.'' 

''My friend and her family are going to Nedroj. They have their own spaceship that can fit 20 people. She said that she can take our family with her and provide us with food and shelter, what should we do?"

My sister doesn't even hesitate before replying, ''Tell her we are coming''

 ''Really?'' I ask, not expecting such a sure answer.

 ''Yeah! Me and my team have been doing research on which planets are habitable and Nedroj is first on the list. People are going to Zarnia but that's far, even if we use the fastest spaceship, it will take 10 years. If someone is going to Nedroj, they've thought about it. Just because going to Zarnia costs less doesn't mean we can live there. Nedroj is far better. It has the green and blue colors that our earth used to have. Water is enough there. And it can have life. It's also in the Goldilocks' Zone. I fear though, what if they're trying to trick us.'' 

''They won't, she has been with me since kindergarten, and is a great friend'' 

''That's good then. I'll tell dad and I know how to take mom with us'' 

''Really? How?'' I said impatiently.

''It's complicated, but you'll see'' 

My sister goes to tell my dad about it.She walks to the living room where he was sitting watching the television. His eyes were almost popping out as he looked at all the disastrous images. He looked at me and my sister and said 

''Hey! What have you guys been doing?''My sister explained it to him just like I had explained it to her. My dad was happy to hear it and he too agreed to the plan. 

 "Well..." I start "I guess it's decided now... Ash, you make preparations for mom and I'll go tell Maria and her family that we're in"
