Chapter 10

The Discussion

I had the basics all figured out. I'd already designed the basic rubrics for the app with a little help from Ash and now I was just waiting for my friends to come over. They'd be here any moment.

I heard a knock on the door and heard my mom welcoming Aiden inside.

"Hey Zyla," he said.

"Hi. Looks like you're the only one on time, as usual. The rest are always late." We both chuckled. That being said we heard a knock on the door.

"Speak of the devil and he shall appear" I say.

This time he was full of laughter, clutching his stomach and everything.

I smile, "It wasn't THAT funny.." I said and made my way to the door.

'It was too!" he called from my room.

I shake my head and open the door. "Hey guys, glad to see you on time." i said sarcastically.

"We're just 10 minutes late Zyla. Not everyone is as punctual as you." Lorelei said. [name can be changed]

I laugh. "Just kidding, come on in"

They all enter and sit down in my room.

"First thing I wanted to ask you guys was, can we involve the twins..?"

Lorelei looked at me skeptically. "Are you sure you want to do that?  They've already been through a lot.."

"I think they deserve to know the truth about their parents and why it all happened. I literally brought those guys to a foreign planet when they were 5 without any explanation. Plus, they wouldn't want something similar to happen to someone else in the future.. They need to know why we evacuated earth so that it doesn't happen again."

"Are you sure about this..?" Kylie asked.

"I think so..in fact, they were the ones who inspired me to start all this. I don't want anyone else facing the same thing they did....and people like them are more likely to understand the problem and take action." I said.

"Let's do it then!" Aiden said. They all nodded.

"Great. " I said, " Zach! Alessia!" I called out. They came running wearing socks in their hands and a rope tying each other's hands together.

When they saw I had company they suddenly tried hiding their hands behind them and tried to loosen the ropes putting up quite an amusing show. We all tried to stifle our laughter. But Aiden lets out a chuckle. He just can't control his laughter it seems. A red color flew up to their cheeks.

"Stop laughing at them" Kylie chided Aiden, who was herself trying to stop her smile.

"Anyways" I say drawing everyone's attention to me, "I called you guys here because I want to discuss something. Here, let me help you." I said untying their knots. God knows what they were up to.

"Remember when I told you guys about Earth?" I asked them.

They nodded slowly as if confused by why I was asking this. 

"Well.....it's possible that the same type of...changes may occur in Nedroj in a few hundred years too.." I said, trying to be vague.

They're eyes widened.

"You mean all the disasters and earthquakes and smoke..?" Alessia asked, "the same kind of changes..... that took our parents?"

I nodded solemnly.

"Then why aren't we stopping it?" Zach asked, confused.

"That's the thing, people don't realize what we're doing is gonna make history repeat itself. They are too absorbed in their own life to look around and notice the slight changes. So that's what we need to do. We need to start taking measures before its too late."

"We want to help," they said simultaneously. I looked around with a triumphant look on my face.

"Told you they'd want to help"

That's how our journey to saving Nedroj began.
