Chapter 10 - A New Guardian

Everything had calmed down after the vote and reveal. Everyone in town was aware of Philza and loved their new King. But Technoblade felt like Philza should still have a place. Since everything was over, Techno wanted to get to know more about Philza. So he called him and Wilbur and Tommy to Philza's room.

"So I wanted to know more about you Phil, do any of you all have any questions about it?" He asked looking at Wilbur and Tommy.

"Yeah I do, does having the wings change your like life span?" Tommy asked.

"Well, no it doesn't I have the normal lifespan of a human. You know differs on if I get sick or something like that. I do however take less damage than a human would in some situations. Like I can survive a fall that could break a leg for a human."

"I sure wished I had that" Tommy mumbled.

"Wait but one thing I really wanted to know... why would you fly about the skies at night?" Wilbur asked.

"Yeah I want to know that too" Technoblade agreed.

There was a moment of silence as Phil thought if he should tell them. But seeing Techno he decided to.

"Alright I'm going to tell you but please don't freak out or anything."

"ok?" All three of them replied curios to what their father was going to say.

"Before any of you were born our kingdom was in a war with another kingdom, their leader was a ruthless man and treated his kingdom harshly. During the war, we were about to lose but as a last resort I had to reveal my wings and fight him. We didn't win, but after he saw he could lose, he called his army to retreat. He didn't expose my secret but vowed he would come back someday. And when your mother passed and he heard the news, he figured it would be a good time to attack since the Kingdom, especially I, would be in a hard state. And a few months after her death I got noticed by one of my guards that he spotted a suspicious person in the woods. Only then I remembered the vow and in the night I took to the skies to not only look after the town and search for any of his men, but in hoped it would scare him away. It meant getting closer to the ground so they could see me, but unfortunately the citizens as well. That day when the archer fought you in the grounds, it was one if his men I'm sure. And one of the main reasons I didn't want to reveal this to my- the citizens was because I was afraid it would stop me from watching in the skies at night anymore. I was doing all of this for the people and you boys... I'm so sorry I didn't tell you earlier. It's hard to be doing this for 26 years..." Philza said lowering his head.

"Dad..."

As Philza heard this he was surprised. None of his sons had said that in years.

"You've been spending all that time worrying over that...?" Technoblade said in a worried look.

"Woah you really are a great king and amazing father... Thanks dad" Tommy said followed by a smile.

"You are WAY more than an amazing father..." Wilbur said.

"This... kingdom... what's the name?"

"I don't know really. He's attack was an unexpected one and we didn't get to know what the name is"

"hmm. Alright, Father? I'm going to make you this town's new guardian" Techno said.

"Wh... What?" Philza said in shock he didn't even know that he could take on something like that.

"Well, the town already knows you as the half bird, half man and since you're already a threat to this unknown kingdom, it wouldn't hurt to have a guardian right?"

Philza was relieved that he would no longer get hate from citizens because he was in their words 'useless' but also because he would still be able to continue soaring in the air and keep watch of the forests. The next day it was announced to the citizens that Philza was the guardian of the town and was received positive feedback from the public.

Philza continued his rounds during the night and day and if caught anything suspicious, would report to Technoblade.
