Tommy started his lessons a few weeks back, he would start his physical lessons when he's 15. Though Tommy was doing lessons he would have every Sunday in a week free. And he would mostly spend it at the Sunday fair that took place in town. Tommy wouldn't interact with many people and would mainly go to escape the constant rules of royalty and know what it would be like to live as a normal citizen. He enjoyed each trip for something new would happen every time he went. Tommy had a separate suit made for him to wear whenever he went out. He had a simple red shirt and brown baggy pants. He scuffed his hair before he went out as well.
=============================
This Sunday was a normal day. Tommy would leave in the morning. He got dressed and left the palace through the forest and entered the town from an unfinished path that was close by. Walking around the fair's market place he went past people selling vegetables, fruits, baked goods and all kind of produce. He saw the Fish monger advertise some fish he got in the morning. Everyone was out on Sunday but because they were all focused on different things, no one would notice the prince hiding among the crowds.
Tommy was looking around when he accidently bumped into someone and fell on the ground.
"Oh my god, I'm sorry here take my hand" said a voice. As Tommy looked up he saw a boy standing in front of him and offering his hand. He was wearing a loose dark green collared shirt with long sleeves that was buttoned down and blue pants with a leather belt. Taking the offered hand, Tommy stood up and apologized as well.
"I'm sorry too, I was focusing on something else" Tommy said but he couldn't help but think he had seen the boy somewhere before. He's dark brown hair and crystal blue eyes seemed awfully familiar to him.
"It's ok, what's your name?" The boy asked. Tommy paused to think if he should reveal to this boy if he was the prince. He still didn't recognize him from voice and looks, he didn't want to risk it by the name either.
"It's... Thomas" Tommy replied offering a handshake.
"Well, nice to meet you Thomas, my name's Tubbo" The boy replied. Tommy immediately remembered who it was.
"Tubbo, I told you not to let go of my hand. Now come on you should go to bed."
It was the boy who stood in the empty court yard 8 years ago.
"Tubbo? Really nice name also if you don't mind me asking, how old are you?"
"Thanks. I'm 13 really"
"13!?"
"Yes, I know it's surprising that I'm not with the other 13 and 14 year olds who usually play together in the field on the weekends"
This was true. Tommy was confused why he wasn't because normally on the weekends, nearly all the 13 to 16 year old boys would play in the field. And Tubbo was here in the market. He didn't want to ask Tubbo why though, assuming it would bring him out of his comfort zone.
"No its ok. Even I don't hang with them. I'm 14 and I spend my Sundays just going about the fair. You could say we both can relate to each other.
"You know Thomas... now this might be a bit personal and sudden, but your one of the only people who haven't judged me on first sight." Tubbo said giving an innocent smile.
"What do you mean?"
"Well, whenever I meet someone they mainly judge me for... something..."
"Its ok, you don't have to tell me. I don't want to make you feel uncomfortable. I don't know why anyone would judge you though Tubbo, you're a really nice person, and I've only met you just now."
"You too Thomas. This was a nice thing for me. I don't really have many friends, so yeah"
Tommy felt bad that people were judging him for whatever reason.
"Anyway I should go now, I'm sorry Thomas."
"Oh no, it's ok you go, what do you say we meet up again here next Sunday? I'm busy on the other days sorry."
"Sunday's fine. Thanks. I guess I'll see you then!" Tubbo said giving a smile that would make anyone smile back.
"Oh and also one more thing Thomas"
"Yeah?"
"You don't have to pretend to be Thomas in front of me anymore, Prince Tommy" He whispered into Tommy's ear and ran off with a wave and disappeared behind a crowd.
=============================
As the next Sunday came Tommy was nervous to meet Tubbo again. He wasn't sure if he would point out he's true identity in front of people or if he could trust him not to. Regardless, he went to the marketplace and the same place he bumped into Tubbo. Tommy stood there for a bit until he got called out.
"THOMAS!" As Tommy looked he saw Tubbo in the distance waving his hand at him and gesturing to come. Tommy ran through the crowd and met up with Tubbo in a less crowded area.
"Ok uhm... first off, I am extremely sorry for calling you without respect, your highness."
"Tubbo, it's completely ok. Now before we continue how about you say we go for a walk in the forest? I know a route that I usually take and is completely safe. Do you trust me?"
"Well, I should be able to trust the Royalty right? Of course, I trust you nevertheless." Tubbo said as he followed Tommy to a part off the forest that was uniquely opened up. The path was full grass, but was somehow made like nature had intended the path for people to pass through.
"This is a really pretty path, your highness" Tubbo said as Tommy let go of his hand once they came to the path.
"Please, just call me Tommy"
"But that would be disrespectful of me"
"I'm ok with it Tubbo." They started walking down the path and soon started to talk about whatever came to their mind. Just random topics that would lead to laughs, questioning or answers. This continued for a while.
"Do you know why I come to Town every Sunday Tubbo?"
"Hmm no really I don't."
"Well, every week having to be royal. It isn't easy. There's specific things that apply to me and my family for something that may seem normal for people like you. So I escape to the Town on Sunday to just see what it would be like to be a normal citizen here. That's why I am completely fine with you calling me Tommy."
"I see, I have another question if you don't mind... Tommy"
"Yeah?"
"One thing I always questioned. When you're royal do you have many friends?"
"Well, we do know a lot of people for instance the king, queens, princes and princesses of other kingdoms, but we aren't really close. We tend to only be acquaintances. I don't really have a friend who I talk to whenever I'm bored or hang out with since I spend all my time at the palace and tend to my brothers or guards whenever I'm bored. So in short, you're probably my first real friend Tubbo." Tommy said giving Tubbo a friendly smile.
"W... Wow!... this is such a big thing for me! That you accept me as your friend it's just..."
"What do you mean?"
"Well, like I've told before, I don't really have many friends and I tend to stay indoors most of the time. I come out on Sunday to either do some shopping or just walk about to see what's new. I guess like for you, you're my first ever real friend"
"Well I want you to know that just because I'm royal doesn't mean you have to treat me special or anything. Treat me like a normal citizen, like I was just a normal boy who you met in the market place and now are friends. If you don't mind Tubbo, question."
"Yeah?"
"Why... do people judge you? Like I met you for only 5 seconds and you seemed to be a really nice person. And also if this is uncomfortable for you feel free to tell me."
"Well, it's mainly because of what's going on in my life... mainly mentally... You see my father left us when I was really young and my mother didn't care for us too much, so I have to take care of my younger sister. This actually affected me mentally where I'm too weak, gullible, shy etcetera, a lot more than normal...That's why no one really hangs with me too much and judges me a lot when they find it out... I didn't want to tell you at first either thinking you would judge me...d...Do you...?" Tubbo said with his head down. He had revealed what he was most insecure about to someone he trusted and hoped he wouldn't judge him like everyone else did. But he got something unexpected. A hug.
"Listen, doesn't matter what you have going on we will be friends all right? I won't ever judge you and anyone who does, shouldn't be allowed to change your mindset or anything. You are already an amazing person in my book only after talking with you for a while. And just so you know if you need any help, I'm willing to ok?"
Though both of them had only known each other for a few hours, both Tommy and Tubbo seemed to be the type of friends who would be by each other's side no matter what happened. This was a big thing for Tubbo. Being dealt with hate and judgment for nearly his entire life, having someone like Tommy helped him a lot.
"Thank you so much, Tommy... can we continue our walk again please?"
"Sure"
"So... your father's the bird man?"
"Yep"
"Has it affected you in any way?"
"So far no, my father says that he got his wings around my age, so were just keeping an eye on if I change in any way mentally or physically."
"Must be hard huh?"
"Well, meh."
The talk between them continued after another hour, they said their goodbyes and scheduled to meet up every Sunday by the path.
