Emily's POV

"Mom you are seriously not coming to my graduation?" I asks in disbelief as my mom was packing her things because she needed to go to some work stuff as always. She is always out for work but I never thought that she would actually not go to my graduation day.

"I told you already, are you deaf? I have to go to a very important meeting."

"So important that you are not going to your only daughter's graduation?"

"It's only school, believe me, it's not important." She said as she finished packing and closed her baggage.

I was just shocked, I didn't think she would seriously do this, but it looks like she doesn't even care.

"Okay, I'll be back probably like in a week or so, try to go to parties and stuff, be social, yeah? Bye." She said while not even saying sorry that she was literally going to miss my graduation.

I sigh as I see her leave on her car.

I cannot wait to get out of here, out of this house and out of this town.

My phone began to ring and it was my best friend and probably only friend Chris. We've been best friends since I can remember, because he at first, always lived besides my house, until one day he moved and although he is a bit further away, we still hang out and maybe that brought us closer together.

I've always seen him as a best friend, probably like the brother I never really had but I'm willing to look for.

"Hey Em, are you ready to graduate?! We are graduating tomorrow!!" He said all excited and I could hear that he was looking for stuff or moving stuff around his room.

"Is it normal if I say that I just want this to be over?"

"What? Why would you say that?"

"My mom left for work stuff and she literally said that she won't be coming for a week. She's not coming to my graduation." I said as I sat down on my bed, not believing this still.

"Are you serious? I know that she has always kind of being rude to you for some reason, but I don't understand why she has to be so mean."

"It's her fucking only daughter's graduation and she is not even going to bother to come. She even said that it wasn't important."

"Damn, your mother got meaner since I stoped being your neighbor."

"Yeah, because when your parents came she was nice to me."

"True... I'm sorry Em. But hey, my parents will be there with my little brother, so they will all be cheering for you as well."

I smile a bit, his family have always been kind to me.

"Thanks Chris."

"Do you want me to pick you up tomorrow for the big day?"

"Yeah sure." I said, "Thank you."

"Of course, I'll always be here for you." See? He is literally so sweet and has always been like this to me, I really do feel like we are brother and sister, although I think that supposedly siblings fight.

"You know you are the best friend I could ever ask for, right?"

"I know, I'm the best. Okay, see you tomorrow!" I said bye and put my head on the bed, lying down completely.

How has my life become like this?

*Graduation moment*

So as expected, my mom didn't show up when they called my name to get my diploma. But I still looked at Chris' family who all cheered for me and I smiled at them.
