CHAPTER EIGHT
THREATS AND INSULTS

───── ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ──────

WE HAD DECIDED that it would be best if we first gathered more information about the entrance at the Acheron river and the area surrounding it before we embarked on a journey down to hell completely blind. And by we, I meant Tempest. Cosmo and I had quickly jumped to the conclusion that flying to Epirus, Greece was the best choice we could make while the daughter of Thetis had angrily explained to us why we were wrong as if we were children who needed scolding.

Sure, it had hurt our pride but we were probably alive because of her.

That's how we had found ourselves in the closest library we could find online. It seemed like we were putting all our trust on the Internet but we didn't really have a choice since Cosmo and Tempest lived on the other side of California and we were closer on the borders of it with Nevada - the idea to drive to Las Vegas for a small break had crossed us a few times but we decided that it was a bit reckless and stupid. Again, us equals me and Cosmo.

The only male of the quest had left us there, claiming he needed to add fuel to the car and buy us some food to survive this nightmare. But we both knew he just didn't want to sort through books about Greece's geographical state. I mean I couldn't blame him because after reading three books about its flora, how long the river was, some historical facts about it and finding nothing worth our trip there, I was growing desperate for a break.

Tempest was tackling down the subject of mythology (mostly things about how the inside of the Underworld) while I was looking through books and sites about its location. We had played rock, paper, scissors for it and I lost three-zero, making me the loser that would look for the non-interesting part of the research. Everything I looked through mostly showed vague pictures of a big river which started to bore and anger me at the same time - I needed something more universe!

I was about to call it quits for a small break when Cosmo came into the library with a bag of food in his hands and a broad smile formed on his lips when he noticed me slouching in front of a computer. I looked around for the woman that worked here and when I didn't see her anywhere close, gave him the finger causing his booming laugh to echo inside the almost empty library.

I cringed when I heard her screech at him to be quiet - even though she wasn't being quiet herself by doing that - and watched as he sheepishly walked to me with the food now hidden, probably inside his bag. I snickered while closing all my tabs on the computer as well as grabbing all my books and together we moved to the back to eat out of her sight.

On the way there, we found Tempest on the floor surrounded by various books and we told her about the food but she waved us off as if eating was the last thing in her mind. It probably was by the amount was work she was doing. Cosmo and I agreed to come to pester her later to eat but for now, we moved to the very back and sat down on the ground, a bag of chicken nuggets for me and one of vegan onion rings for him between us.

We started munching away as I explained to him how Tempest and I worked and what I had found to which he grunted, saying that this was going to take a century. I laughed, "Okay, buddy. Not a century but it sure as hell is going to feel like it,"

And with that, I pushed some of my books in his lap.

He grumbled but other than that said nothing as we continued looking through the thousands of pages. I had no idea as to how long we stayed there either reading or just looking at pictures in books and online - lots of which had nothing but tourist attractions that we didn't care about.
