CHAPTER ELEVEN
WATER WHIPLASH───── ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ──────
"I CAN'T BELIEVE you're making me leave my baby behind!"
I huffed, not really in the mood for this. "Cosmo, we've talked about this. You can't take the car with you, where are you going to put it in the airplane, stupid?"
Cosmo gave me a harsh glare while cuddling his car, "We can take a ship,"
Tempest almost choked on her fries, "To Greece? Boy, you're dumber than I thought. Do you want this quest to last a century?"
The only male of the trio opened his mouth to say something but I shook my head, replaying the last thing the blonde said and using it against him, "Think of it this way; we finish the quest faster by flying there and you get to come back sooner to your... baby,"
I couldn't believe we were having this conversation. After driving around for a while, Tempest had woken up declaring she was hungry and she didn't want to eat any of the cold food we had in the car. So that was how I ended up scarfing down all the leftovers Cosmo and I left and drove us to the nearest fast food place I could find and ordering her some food to eat.
Even Cosmo had gotten something to eat, complaining about how I ate everything on my own - which caused us to fight because I have clearly asked him if he wanted something and he replied negatively. I had only gotten some coke to help digest all the greasy meat I put in my stomach earlier.
That's how we find ourselves here; standing outside of Cosmo's car with them eating and me drinking while complaining about whether or not we should take the car with us to Greece or not.
I honestly didn't even know why there was even a debate; the obvious answer was no. Why would someone want to take a ship there? Why would Cosmo be so adamant about it and keeping close to his car?
And that's when a question hit me.
"Hey, bud. Have you ever been on a plane before?"
Cosmo seemed offended by that, "I'm an assistant coach for the UCLA Bruins, what do you think?"
The desire to hit him on the head became too much for a moment and I rolled my eyes behind closed lids and gave him another look. "Yeah but what about outside of America?"
That's when a shaky breath escaped him.
Cosmo's eyes danced around the place, never meeting mine or Tempest's who was still munching away without a care about the world. I rolled my eyes again unable to keep it in. She noticed it and gave me the finger, making me scoff and do it back like the mature person I was.
"I have never been somewhere where I couldn't drive my car as a backup plan. Most of the games with the guys, I'm the one that takes the ones with flight problems to the games by car but if we can't make it on time there with one, we would all go by plane. And those are usually my most anxious days of the year. I hate not having my car there with me, it has saved me from a lot of monsters and in a way, it feels like... like armour,"
Woah, that came out of nowhere.
While I had been the one to ask him, I didn't expect him to explain the situation so much. I mean we had only confirmed being friends a few minutes, maybe an hour ago. I tried not to let my surprise show just like Tempest because she seemed accustomed to his oversharing tendencies.
"Oh, so that's why we always took your car to quests!" she exclaimed, pointing at him before noticing ketchup on her finger and licking it away.
The dark-haired male nodded with a faraway look on his face, "I don't know why it matters so much but it does. I need my car, it's not just armour as I said before. It feels like more. Like a piece of me. And it doesn't even matter which car it is as long as it's mine. I've always been on important quests with my car,"
