Today was a beautiful Saturday afternoon and I'm lying at home deep in my thoughts. Corey and I hadn't spoken much since yesterday. He was released from the hospital this morning and was at home recuperating. He was doing fine but I wasn't. Corey was not an idiot. He suspected that someone switched his pills. I wanted to come clean and tell him the truth but I couldn't. If I did that, my mother and I would be dead.

It was going to take a lot to get Corey's career back on track but I was going to do whatever it takes to make that happen. Even though I was hired to sink his career but I wasn't going to do that. I need to tell Ari everything and see if she can help me to get mom to someplace safe. Then I'll come clean to Corey and face the consequences afterward. I just wanted my mom to be safe. She has woken up out of the coma but she's still in the hospital. She didn't remember anything that happened the night of the accident.

I got up off my bed and took up my phone off the nightstand and called Ari's number but it went to voicemail. I put my phone down on the bed. I wanted to take a shower and go to the hair salon to do my hair. I walked out of my bedroom and closed the door. I went into my bathroom and stripped out of my clothing. Suddenly I heard my doorbell rang. I quickly tied the robe around my body.

I ran down the stairs and went to open the door. I looked through the peephole and saw who it was. My worst nightmare. The smile that I had on my face had now disappeared. Foolish me because in the back of my head, I thought that it would be Corey. Even though we only talked about his career, I thought that he would come here so that we could kiss and make up.

I opened the door and he just barged in with two of his men beside him.

"Why are you coming here?! Why the hell didn't you say what you had to say over the phone?!" I barked at him.

He had a smirk on his face. "Bitch, who are you talking to like that? Keep your voice down before I have to let my men take terms smashing your ass and then slit your throat." He said to me calmly as he motioned to one of his men with his head. One of them came behind me and held a knife to my throat. My heart was beating rapidly.

"Why did you stop talking, bitch? Go ahead and yell at me again, hoe." He said to me.

I was silent as I felt the blade of the sharp knife pressed against my skin. I was fearing for my life. They could easily kill me here and no one would know.

"Just as I thought." He chuckled and then motioned with his head to the man who was holding the knife to my neck. He then removed his hand along with the knife from around my neck.

"Why didn't Corey file a lawsuit against that doctor as we discussed?" He asked me.

"I told him to and he said that he's not doing it," I replied to him as I touched my throat. My voice was hoarse.

"You need to convince him to do it bitch! You're his manager! You tell him what to do!" He yelled at me as he came closer to me.

"I tried my best to convince him to do it but he just wouldn't. I think he suspected that I switched his medications." I said as I backed away from him until my back hit the wall.

"Well, you're best wasn't good enough. You need to do better than that and stop acting so damn suspiciously around him. I need $75,000 to be transferred to the bank account no later than 5 in the evening today." He said to me as he backed me up against the wall.

"There's no way I can take that amount of money today without Corey noticing," I replied to him. My hands were shaking.

"I don't give a fuck what you can or can't do. I need to see the exact figure that I just told you in the bank account no later than 5. I would hate for things to get ugly too fast." He ran his hands on my thighs.

He moved away from me and walked towards the door. His two men followed suit.

"Why are you doing this?" I asked him as he opened the door.

He turned back and looked at me and said, "I did tell you everything from the beginning because Corey owes me. When I'm done with him he'll have nothing left." He and his men stepped out on the patio.

I rushed to the door and locked it. I leaned my back against the door. How the hell am I going to get that amount of money today without Corey noticing? I didn't know what to do. I sat down on the floor and pulled my knees up to my stomach.

I was searching everywhere for my car keys but they were nowhere to be found. I took up my purse off the couch and emptied everything inside of it on the sofa but my keys still weren't there. Like what the hell? Where are those damn keys? It was almost five in the evening and I haven't transferred the money to the bank account as yet. While I was searching my small living room for the keys, my phone rang. It was Ari calling.

"Hi, Ari. Are you home?" I asked her.

"Yes, Kaylee. I'm home alone and bored as hell. Jonathan came back from Washington this morning but he said that he had business to take care of as usual. I saw your missed calls. What were you saying?"

"Okay. I need to talk to you about something important but it has to stay between us. No one can ever know about it." I said to her.

"Sure. What is it?" She asked me.

"I can't tell you over the phone. We have to meet in person. Can you come over to my place tomorrow in the evening?" I asked her.

"Yes, I'll be there. Is everything okay with you Kaylee? You sound worried."

"No, Ari. Everything is not okay. My life has been turned upside down. I'll tell you everything tomorrow."

"I'm sorry to hear that. Do you want me to come over now?" She asked me.

"No, I'm on my way out. I'll see you tomorrow. Take care of yourself. Bye."

"Okay, Kaylee. You do the same. Bye."

I have to call an Uber to come and pick me up. I can't sit here all evening and search for those keys. I needed to transfer the money over as soon as possible.
