Everyone including myself, still couldn't believe that Ari was dead. I wondered who killed her. The cops said that it was a robbery. Kaylee's mom, Terri, was back in Atlanta. Kaylee told me that Terri wanted to move because she was scared of living in California after the accident. I didn't buy it. There were a lot of unanswered questions. I knew that Kaylee was lying to me.
I knocked on my father's office door. I wanted to check in on him and see how he was doing. His secretary couldn't stop flirting with me as I walked into the building.
"Come in." He said.
"Hi, dad. I didn't expect to see you here." I said to him as I came into his office and closed the door.
"Son, life goes on. Ari is gone and I've got to make money."
"Oh come on, dad. She was just buried yesterday. I thought that you would take some time off."
"Son, whether I take the time off or I work, Ari is still dead and nothings going to bring her back."
I stared at him. "That's how you were when mom died. You never showed any emotion."
"Don't bring your mother into this. You see son, bad choices that we make can cost us dearly." He got up off the chair.
"What are you implying?" I asked him.
"I'm not implying anything. I'm just saying that we have to be careful of the choices that we make. I gave your mother and Ari everything and they were never faithful to me."
"How did you know that Ari wasn't faithful to you?" My curiosity was getting the better of me.
"Son, I'm not getting into that with you. I thought that you were here to talk business but you're here to talk about my dead wife and I'm not interested to talk about her. We're done here. You can show yourself out." He said to me while looking through the paperwork.
"You're a cold-hearted and self-centered jerk. You don't care about anyone but yourself and your money. I don't know why I even try to have a relationship with you." I said to him.
"That's Nicole speaking. I dumped her because of her promiscuous ways. She was a nasty hoe." He chuckled.
That's when I snap. I didn't like it when he called my mom a hoe. I punched him in the jaw. I was very upset. He tried to punch me back but I dodged it.
"Don't you dear call my mom a hoe. I'll never invest in your company," I said to him and opened the door.
He held his jaw. "Leave before I have you thrown out." He spat. "Do you think that because you're my son that will stop me from pressing charges against you?"
"I don't give a fuck what you want to do, dad. Go ahead and take your best shot." I walked out of his office.
He may be my father but I had little respect for him. As I stepped inside the elevator, my cell phone rang.
"Hey, beautiful."
"Hi, baby. How did it go with your dad?" Kaylee's voice was raspy.
"Horrible," I replied to her as I stepped out of the elevator.
"I'm so sorry. What happened?"
"I don't want to talk about that jerk right now, baby. Is everything okay?" I saw my dad's secretary batting her eyelashes at me. These bitches never stop.
"Yeah. I'm just going out to have lunch."
"Cool. I'll be at the studio. Enjoy your lunch."
"Okay, honey. Thanks. Bye."
A few moments later we disconnected. I put on my shades as I walked to where my car was waiting for me inside the parking lot.

Kaylee***
The detectives said that they had no leads into Ari's murder. My conscience was getting the better of me because I know that he killed her. I think that she confronted him about everything and he had one of his men kill her. This was all my fault. I killed my cousin. I still couldn't understand why Ari would want to leave the country and not tell me about it.
I'm going to come clean to Corey and tell him everything. I might even go to prison but I will bear the consequences for being naive and gullible. I'm also going to tell the detectives everything about that bastard. I know that he's going to kill me afterward but hopefully, I'll be locked up by then. So he won't be able to hurt me. I told mom everything and she said that I should tell Corey.
I swiped my soda and bit into my cheeseburger. This was delicious. I can't help myself. I grew up on fast food.
The cheeseburger was Ari's favorite. I wish that this was a dream and she wasn't dead. I wish that I had told her that I love her the last time that I saw her at the benefit concert.
I looked across the room and couldn't believe who the two people that I saw were. It was that bastard and Monica having lunch together. What the hell were they doing here together?
Monica was the one who found Ari's body. I never trusted her from the beginning. I always thought that she was too good to be true.
They were arguing but I couldn't hear what they were saying. I saw when he slammed his fists on the table, got up off the chair, and looked around the room to see if anyone was watching him. I quickly turned my head away because I didn't want him to see me. A few seconds later, I slowly looked around and saw him storming out of the restaurant. She got up and followed behind him.
It seemed that they had some form of disagreement. I wish that I knew what it was.
It was now time for me to get back to work. I grabbed my purse off the table and walked out of the restaurant. I'm hoping that they didn't see me.
