Dipper
I told Mabel I was going to go find Wendy and her friends. Mabel had let me go, but truth was I wasn't. Yet again- I was heading off to find out Eleanor's secrets.
When she told me she was done with lying, she was so honest and truthful. I almost felt regretful that I didn't believe her, but I knew it wasn't over.
I sneaked through the forest nervously. Do I really want to find out the secrets? I wondered. I pulled out of the forest and up to Eleanor's house.
I knocked on the door. No body answered. I knocked harder. Still no answer.
I turned around angry and disappointed. "Well I guess-" I jumped when I heard crashing. "What the?!" I looked at the house.
Thumping and yelling came from inside.
"No!" I heard an angry and stern voice shout.
I walked back up to the door and pressed my ear up against it.
"Stop! Get down!" Screamed the same voice.
The commotion stopped.
I leaned in farther, trying to pick out small details.
The door swung open.
I stumbled back and looked up.
Eleanor held the door open. Her hair was messed up and she was breathing hard as if she just ran a mile.
"Are. You ok?" I asked.
Eleanor brushed her hair back. "W-why are you here again?" She ignored my question.
"I need to talk to you. Even though we just talked...I'm not finished."
Eleanor blinked. "Why didn't you just tell me in the forest?"
I flushed a little bit. "U-uh." We kissed...
Eleanor's eyes lit up with understanding. She laughed awkwardly. "Oh." She smiled.
"So...are you ok?" I repeated.
"Yah. I'm fine."
"What was going on in there? Sounded like turmoil." I asked some more.
"Oh. Nothing, just troublesome house."
I nodded with an eyebrow raised. She's hiding something...but why? There's nothing left to hide.
"Can I come in and talk?" I tried to peer over her shoulder.
Eleanor stood on her tippy-toes. She stepped out and slammed the door. "No. Let's talk out here."
I looked at her strangely. What's going on here? I started to walk with Eleanor. "So. Where's your mom?"
"Oh, she had to leave again. I mean, she got here literally a couple minutes ago...I guess all of my family is busy." She sighed.
"Are you ok with that?" I asked.
"Oh. I'm fine with it, they have to work a lot for money and financial stuff...as long as they can support us."
"Are you having money troubles?" I asked surprised.
"No! Just big house, new town, gotta just slide in slowly." She explained.
The shadows of the forest fell over us.
I let out a puff of breath. "So, on a more serious matter, something is wrong Eleanor...I know it. There is another secret, isn't there?"
Eleanor froze and started to sweat. "Uh-"
"Please. Don't lie to me Eleanor, what is this other secret. I know it's there." I ordered her softly.
"Dipper...I can't! I seriously can't! I'm not lying, just not telling you." She tried to reason with me.
I did my best to maintain my temper. "Eleanor. You're keeping the truth from me. You told me no more secrets...you lied to me."
Eleanor's lip quivered. "I-I'm sorry."
"Please." I put my hand on her arm.
"No...I can't...maybe one day when he says yes, but not today." I mumbled.
"He?" Lighting shot through me. "Who is this he?"
Eleanor took a step back. "What? No. I didn't say he. I meant...me!" She said pushing her hands in my direction.
"You're lying to me!" I screamed outraged.
Eleanor ran up and hugged me which took me by surprise. She pulled back and stared into my eyes. "Look, Dipper, I will tell you one day..."
She started to back away. ", but not today." She turned and jogged away.I didn't stop her. I tried to make myself trust her. I tried. I let her go, but something defiantly was up. One day I would find out.
