Chapter 4

Dipper

The next day I waited outside with Mabel for Eleanor. I sat on a bench, tapping my foot on the ground.

Mabel kept sighing and kicking stones around.

Finally I stood up. "Mabel, it's been, like, an hour. Lets just go and try and to find more of those foot prints.

Mabel looked up at me. "Dipper. Those prints were huge! And we should wait for Eleanor."

I growled. "No, I'm tired of waiting and she wouldn't be able to come along anyways. One, she can't find out about the mysteries. Two, she can't find out about the journal. Three, she's really weird and quiet and different from any people I've met here in Gravity Falls and other places!" I explained.

Mabel raise an eyebrow at me and a fiery look blazed in her eyes. "Don't talk bad about her!" Mabel said outraged.

I rolled my eyes. "Oh please Mabel, I don't want to hang out with her. She's just a strange girl out of place who bugs us constantly!"

Mabel opened her mouth for a retort, but stopped and gazed behind me with her mouth hanging open.

I glanced behind me and took in my breath sharply.

Eleanor started right at me. Her eyes were full of tears and a twisted irate look plagued her face. She had never seemed so angry or betrayed.

I raised my hand up towards her. "El-"

She shook her head and ran off.

Mabel kicked me in the shin.

I flinched and rubbed my leg as Mabel stormed off back to the shack.

I dropped to the ground and put my hands on my face. "What have I done?"
