Chengxin had returned to school on Monday morning, and he regretted missing one class in the morning. It was just that he had gotten carried away with Jiaqi, the person whom he could never even have.
When Yaxuan saw Chengxin arriving in campus at 9 am through the window of his classroom, he was disappointed. He wanted to understand what was really going on between Chengxin and Jiaqi, but he knew Chengxin would never tell him. Chengxin preferred to keep his love life private to his friends.
So later that afternoon, while Haoxiang and Yaowen were sitting together outside, he approached the two. Haoxiang had planned to ask Yaowen for a date that day.
‘Hi guys,’ Yaxuan greeted before turning to Yaowen. ‘Do you have any idea what Chengxin and Jiaqi do together? You two are the closest so maybe he tells you.’
‘Nope.’ Yaowen shook his head. ‘Why do you want to know?’
‘I’m just curious because it’s really distracting Chengxin from school. Do you know any way we can find information?’
Yaowen snapped his fingers. ‘Someone once told me that Jiaqi keeps a diary because he doesn’t have anyone to talk to, so he writes everything in his diary. If we can get his diary, we can know what they really do and what’s between them.’
‘But how can we get his diary?’
‘Hmm,’ Yaowen thought to himself. ‘We can secretly go to Jiaqi’s house next time and hopefully we can sneak past him and grab it.’
‘That sounds dangerous, I wouldn’t want anything to happen to Yaowen…I mean…to both of you!’ Haoxiang quickly corrected himself.‘We’ll be fine.’ Yaowen assured him.
‘Let’s go now! Please!’ Yaxuan said as he pulled Yaowen up, and the two left quickly. Haoxiang watched with slight jealousy as the two of them left together. He knew there was nothing going on between Yaowen and Yaxuan, or at least he hoped so.
Yaxuan and Yaowen made their way to Jiaqi’s house since they both did not have classes that afternoon. It was a large beautiful house which stood out from the many surrounding houses.
Yaxuan and Yaowen stopped at the gate and a guard opened it. They told the guard that they were friends from Jiaqi’s college, and he let them in because they looked around his age. Yaowen was carrying a brown leather satchel which he was going to use soon. The two boys walked into the house and found Jiaqi sitting in the living room reading a book.
‘Oh…hi.’ Jiaqi greeted them unsurely and look up from his book.
‘Hi. We are Chengxin’s friends,’ Yaxuan introduced them. ‘We came for a chat.’
Jiaqi found it strange. But not wanting to be rude, he nodded. ‘Thanks for visiting.’
The three of them started to chat, even though they had nothing in common and the conversation quickly got dry.‘Can I go to the bathroom?’ Yaowen asked Jiaqi according to the plan he had made with Yaxuan.
‘Sure.’ Jiaqi said. ‘There’s a bathroom on the first floor and one upstairs. You can go to either.’
‘Okay thanks.’ Yaowen answered and race up the stairs. He didn’t want to pee, but he was looking for the door to Jiaqi’s room. He checked the numerous doors. At first, he opened the door to the bathroom, but eventually he found the door to Jiaqi’s room. He assumed it was Jiaqi’s room because it was boyish, and Jiaqi was the only young one in the house.
When he walked up to Jiaqi’s study desk, he sawe that there was a book written Ma Jiaqi, so he knew for sure that it was his room. Yaowen started searching in Jiaqi’s drawers until he finally found a blue diary with the letters ‘MJQ’ at the front.
‘Bingo.’ he said to himself then placed the diary in a brown satchel.
