Clay's POV

⚠️ Heart attack

A few minutes had passed and I started worrying more and more. I was short of breath for weeks now and I had had a bit of chest pain, but it got really bad suddenly. I used to not think anything of it, but it worried me so much now that I knew something was off.

I put the drugs away in my bag and leaned back as a severe pain on my chest overwhelmed me. I was sweating really badly and felt a bit nauseous and drowsy. I felt my heart beat very heavily and irregularly which caused me to panic even more.

I got so scared that I started to breathe faster, but with every breathe I took, I felt another very painful and stinging feeling in my chest. I held my hand on my chest and grasped onto my bag as I started to feel more nauseous and dizzy.

After I called George, he immediately left his house to go to me. He could be here any second from now and I hoped he would come quick, because I wasn't okay. I had no track of time so I honestly didn't know if he would be here soon or if I had to wait another ten minutes.

I pressed myself against the wall and squeezed my hands as I waited for George. I got so anxious that I started sucking my thumb again and felt tears in my eyes. Maybe I had a death wish after everything that was happening, but I didn't want to die in this way. I wanted to explain to everyone what had happened.

Luckily George arrived at the place I was sitting quickly after the call. He came running to me and knelt down as he grabbed my hand.

'Clay, what's wrong?' he shouted out of fear. 'Oh my goodness, you're so pale. Where do you have pain?'

I pointed at my heart and George pulled me closer. 'I'm going to call an ambulance to make sure, I don't know what's going on.'

He wrapped his arm around my shoulders and constantly looked at me to see if I wasn't passing out or anything close to that.

He pressed the emergency number as I coughed and got startled by the extreme pain in my chest. George's phone call got accepted and I heard him speak to someone I could just hear on the other side of the line.

'Hello, I think my friend needs an ambulance. He has bad pains around his chest and heart.' He listened for a little and then looked at me. 'Are you nauseous and dizzy?' he asked.

I nodded and hitched a breath. I started to feel very unconscious and I couldn't tell if it was because of the drugs or because of the pain.

'He is very breathless too. A heart attack? Oh my goodness, what do I do? Okay, I will. Yeah, please. Okay, thank you.'

George hung up and pulled me closer to his body. 'Clay, I need you to try to keep looking at me, okay? I don't want you to close your eyes. Not because you're tired either, just keep looking at me.'

I was high and barely understood his words. Luckily I was so shocked that I didn't make dumb comments and I stared at him, feeling very tired and confused.

'Are you very nauseous?' George asked me.

I nodded and started moving my arm. 'Pain.'

'Does your arm hurt?'

I nodded again and grabbed his hand to hold it against my chest. 'Your heart is going very irregularly, Clay. I'm so scared, you're having a heart attack. Clay, you're so young. Why are you having this?'

I shrugged and took deep breaths while waiting for the ambulance. I tried to not fall asleep during the waiting time and when the ambulance arrived, I got immediately lifted up on a stretcher and driven to the hospital.

⚠️ Over

I couldn't remember anything of the next few hours, but I knew that when I woke up, I laid in a bed with George next to me on a chair. His eyes seemed puffy and red and he was holding my hand while reading his phone.

I moved shortly to let him know I was awake and he laid his phone down and lifted himself up. 'Clay! You're awake!' he smiled.

I smiled shortly. 'What happened?' I whispered as I rolled closer to him.

He sniffed softly and grabbed a napkin which was laying on the desk next to my bed. He blew his nose and sighed softly.

'You had a heart attack and they put you to sleep to fix it,' he whispered. I could see that he was very scared and sad. 'I was so scared, Clay. Why did you get a heart attack so suddenly?'

I stared at my hands and looked at him. 'I think you're going to get really mad at me.'

'I won't, I promise,' he replied. He held his hand up to grab my other one and I sighed quietly.

'Uh- I just don't know how to start. I'm really tired as well.'

'Was I right? Do you have an eating disorder?'

I shook my head faintly and looked down at our hands together.

'I'm addicted,' I mumbled.

'To what?' George whispered with a voice filled fear.

'Drugs and alcohol.'

It was quiet and it took George a little to process what I just said. 'What drugs? How much?'

'Marijuana and a combination of heroin and cocaine. Well, and alcohol.'

'How often do you do that?'

'I drink almost every day. I know I drink way too much, but I can't stop myself when I start. I also use drugs every day.'

'How much do you drink?'

'A whole bottle a day,' I whispered ashamedly.

'Clay,' he sobbed. 'How can I help you?'

'I don't know, George. I can't live without it. I can't stop, even if I really want to. I just can't stop.'

'You need to go to a rehab facility.'

'I don't want to,' I whispered. 'I need drugs to survive.'

'How do you get it?'

I sighed softly and looked away. 'I just have to do something for that, but I don't think that's important right now.'

George got the hint and pulled me in for a hug. 'I'm not mad at you, I'm glad I finally know what's going on. I'm here for you and we are going to chill a lot the next few weeks.'
