I was about to call Clay since I had good news about my sibling as Clay called me. I accepted the call right away and waited for him to speak, but he didn't. I decided to speak up instead.
'Hi! What's up?'
He was breathing quickly and made soft sounds. I couldn't tell if he was talking or crying. 'H-help,' he then whispered.
I immediately jumped up and ran downstairs while I stayed on the phone. I knew this wasn't good at all, Clay wouldn't call me as a joke to say help while breathing like this.
'What's wrong, Clay? Try to talk to me,' I demanded as I put it on speaker when I came downstairs. I ran to my mother and she looked up, listening with me.
'H-h-help,' he stuttered, gagging after that. He hitched a breath and coughed loudly.
My mother took the hint and walked off to grab her car keys.
'Clay, try to tell me where you are, okay?'
⚠️ Throwing up
He gagged again and it seemed like his phone fell on the ground. I heard him throw up after that. It sounded like he picked his phone back up a few seconds after that.
⚠️ Over
'H-home.'
'Okay, I'm on my way with my mother. I'm going to call an ambulance with my mother's phone. I don't want you to hang up, okay?'
He mumbled something and hitched a breath again. 'H-help,' he whispered. He sounded really panicky and his voice was shaky. 'P-p-please. H-heart.'
'I'm on my way, okay? Try to stay as calm as you can, my mother is calling an ambulance. Can you try to tell me what happened?'
He really tried to say something but only made some weird sounds.
'It's fine, Clay. You don't need to talk, but stay on the phone. Can you make a short sound so I know you can still hear me?'
He mumbled something and I looked at my mother who made me hold her phone while she started driving. She just called the emergency number and put it on speaker.
'I need an ambulance,' my mother stated as the phone call got accepted.
We got connected to another person who asked us the address. My mother knew the address since I told her before and then we got asked what was wrong.
'I don't know what's wrong, but my son's best friend just called him while repeatedly saying "help". He threw up, can't talk and said he has something with his heart.'
'Is someone with him?'
'I don't think so, we are on our way. He has a past with drugs and alcohol and had a heart attack before.'
'How old is he? What's his name?'
'Clay and he's seventeen.'
'Okay, we are coming as fast as we can. Make sure to stay with him when you get there. If he's not breathing or unconscious, perform CPR. Does anyone know how to do that?'
'I do,' I mumbled sadly. I didn't want to get reminded of the time I had to save my sibling. I was just so happy they woke up from their coma.
The lady asked us some more things and then hung up, leaving me in tears.
'Clay, are you there? Can you make a sound?' I sobbed. 'Please?'
It was quiet which caused me to feel panic come up in my body. A tear rolled down my cheek and I sniffed softly. 'Clay, answer me. Are you there? Please, Clay. Keep fighting.'
It took him a minute to make a very soft sound and I knew this wasn't good at all. My mother started driving faster and as soon as we got there, I stormed inside.
The house was completely empty downstairs so I figured Clay was upstairs. I was running so fast that I barely noticed blood on the stairs. I needed to go to Clay.
I ran up the stairs to his room and got startled as I saw him lay down with his head on the floor. A shattered bottle of alcohol was spread all over the floor with a needle next to it and I lifted Clay up to get him away from all the shards and alcohol on the floor.
He started crying when I tried to, showing me he had a lot of pain by sobbing softly. I still had to get him out of the shards and my mother helped me. We lifted him up while he cried and made sounds in pain.
We laid him down on his bed and I grabbed his hand. 'What did you take? How much alcohol did you have? Did you have drugs?'
He didn't answer me and looked at me with eyes filled with tears. I was wondering if he was actually looking at me or if he was on the edge of passing out.
'Clay, make a sound again so I know you're still conscious.' I ran my hand over his cheek and looked around me to see his bear on a chair. I grabbed the bear and gave it to him. He wrapped his arms around it and sobbed softly.
'Can you still hear me?'
He mumbled softly, but then I saw his eyes roll away. His body got weaker and I started softly hitting his head, but he didn't open his eyes again.
'MUM,' I screamed in total fear. 'HE PASSED OUT. HELP.'
'Is he still breathing?' she asked in a calm voice. 'Calm down, George. Panicking isn't going to make it better.' She held her hand on his neck.
'His heart is going really irregularly, George. This is not good. I think he's having a heart attack again.'
I moved closer to him to hear if he was still breathing, but as soon as I realised he wasn't anymore, I held my hands on his chest to perform CPR. I couldn't lose him, I loved him so much.
I was crying while performing CPR. My mother was rubbing my back with tears in her eyes too and I could only wish for him to wake back up. I couldn't deal with this pain again.
