☆ Next Day ☆
(3rd person's pov) :
It was Dazai and Emily who entered two storeyed western restaurant. The restaurant was on the ground floor where as there were rooms to live in the first and second floors. And the name of this Restaurent was "Freedom"
"I-it's hot~ it's so hot~ my goodness. Uncle, You didn't put lava in as a secret ingredient, did you?!" Dazai asked making a weird face looking at the curry.
"Haha, is that so? Odasaku always eats this." The owner said.
The owner of this restaurent was Odasaku's old friend. He is around fifty years old.
"Ahhh man, how will I eat it if it's that hot~ my tongue burns~" Dazai whined while Emily quietly eats her curry sitting beside him on a stool.
Dazai turns to her, "Heh? How are you eating it? Did you add ice?" He asked. It was an illogical question.
"Seriously? Who would add ice in curry?" Emily boringly replied.
"You added your ice to reduce the effects of the lava that he added~" Dazai replied and Emily narrowed her eyes, "You know? Sometimes you say stuffs that don't even make any sense."
"That's for sure!~" A familiar voice spoke up as the restaurant door opens. Emily turn her head to look at the red haired man as well as Dazai who tilted his head slightly.
"Hey Odasaku? How are the kids~?" The owner cheerfully asked.
"Same as always~" Odasaku replied walking over to Dazai and Emily, "So? What are you two doing here? Out on a date?" He asked.
"Seriously? Me, on a date with him? That's terrible~" Emily sighs.
"Is that so?" He responded taking the seat on the stool on Dazai's right side.
"Anyway, those kids.. are they from the Ryuuzu dispute that happened two years ago?" Emily asked as Odasaku answers, "Yes, they are."
Two years ago, A large scale war broke out between several organizations including the Port-Mafia. The war was known as, "Dragon's Head Rush". Several people died in the crossfire, but some children managed to come out alive. Odasaku saved them and he brought them to a certain place providing them a home. Those orphans stay in the second floor of the restaurant. Since then, Odasaku takes care of them like a Guardian.
"You are Oda Sakunosuke, a member of the Mafia who never kills people, you have no interest in moving up to a greater promotion, and you take care of orphans." Dazai listed out and he glances at Odasaku, "You are a strange one. I don't know anyone else in the Port-Mafia like you."
"You are stranger than I am~" Odasaku sarcastically replied.
"Yup~ As long as Dazai's around, no one is strange here~" Emily said with her bored voice and Dazai let out a low grumble pouting his mouth.
At the mean time, Odasaku took out an envelop filled with cash putting it on the counter table, "Here are the living expenses for those kids for the time being." He says.
"Are you sure? This is practically your earnings, isn't it? ..if you don't mind, I can help pay for some of it.." The owner said.
"I am already grateful that you are giving them a place to stay. And as long as I get to eat the curry here whenever I want, I don't need anything else." Odasaku replies while Dazai suddenly coughs as he got his food stuck in his throat.
Emily quickly holds the glass of water making him drink it as she rubs his back.
She let out a sigh before grabbing his bowl in her hand, "You are such a child Dazai." She says as she slowly blows the hot curry rice with her mouth.
She gently takes it on the spoon turning it over to Dazai, "Here. Eat it." She said still narrowing her eyes at him.
Dazai quickly leans down eating from her hand just like a child would do. In one way, he was enjoying after getting the chance to be fed by Emily.
"You two sure are different now, since I first came to know you both~" Odasaku said catching their attention as Emily suddenly perked up at his voice.
Dazai glances at him with his puffed mouth filled with food."I was just annoyed with his whinings. So I fed him myself. It's not hot at all~ is it?" She said and Dazai nodded his head chewing the food. However, Emily's words felt like an excuse to Odasaku.
"Then what are you two doing here anyway? Apart from eating curry rice and hanging out like couples?~" Oda asked.
"First thing first, We are not couples." Emily replied in annoyance, "Secondly, yes.. we both are here to inform you something.." She said in a serious tone.
"I see." Odasaku responded, "If you don't mind, can you leave the three of us for a moment?" He asked the owner.
"Yes sure. I will be at the back preparing ingredients. If a customer comes, let me know." The owner said as he left the counter table.
"So? What's the report?" Odasaku asked.
"We have come to the conclusion, that the Mimic are an organisation of gifted members from overseas. They were chased by a gifted agency from England called the 'Order of the Clock Tower' and they have recently moved from Europe to Japan." Emily explained while Dazai drinks water from his glass.
"A Criminal Organization from Europe huh?" Odasaku thoughtfully mumbles, "And what did those guys come all the way to Japan for?" He asked.
"They were expelled from Europe, so they escaped and moved here to Japan." Dazai spoke up.
"Indeed, there isn't a place on earth that criminal ability organizations can just easily or illegally enter a country. There must be some sort of insider or someone from within the country who is helping them." Emily said.
"Hmm.. I can figure that. But there's something more that's bothering me.." Odasaku says.
"You mean how skilled their soldiers were, right?" Dazai asked and he replied, "Yeah"
"They are former soldiers from wars. According to Emily and my information, the head of that organization uses a powerful gift to command veteran soldiers." Dazai informed.
"So, that's how he commands them!?" Oda mumbles to himself, "Does the Boss know about this?" He asked again turning his face to Emily and Dazai.
"You mean Mori? Well, yes. We have given him our report. He asked us to come up with an anti-Mimic strategy and command the front." Emily replied as Dazai said with a smirk on his lips, "Emily and I have already set up various mouse traps."
Odasaku stayed silent for a while and then he spoke up again, "This might be a stupid question. But considering a gifted group that we are dealing with, wouldn't this be a matter for the government?" He asked.
"Are you referring to the Ministry of Home Affairs' Supernatural Special Operation Division? ..They won't show up unless the situation is rather extreme. Because to the outside world, they technically don't even exist." Dazai replied.
"And what about Ango?" Oda asked.
Dazai and Emily didn't reply immediately, they silently sigh down at the counter desk and then Emily spoke up, "It's basically been confirmed that Ango was the one who leaked the secret passcode for the Mafia's weapon storage unit."
"Wait, what!?! ..Did he betray the Organisation?" Odasaku asked in disbelief.
"Everything makes perfect sense if we believe that." Dazai sighs.
A few minutes of silence surrounds the restaurant, when the three of them were in their thoughts thinking about their friend Ango Sakaguchi, it was still hard to believe that he betrayed the Mafia and teamed up with the Mimic.
Suddenly, the room echoed with Emily's ringtone of her phone. She picks it up without even looking at the screen.
"It's me.." She said over the phone, and after a long while of Emily listening to the voice from the phone, she calmly replies, "I understand."
There was no emotion in her voice and with that she just hung up the call, "The mouse has fallen into the trap." She says with a dark smile which made Dazai smirk.
