YOUR POV
The brightness that hit my face started to irritate me that I decided to wake up fully. I rubbed my eyes to adjust my sight from the light but as soon as I try to move my body, everything felt so heavy and that's when I realized that a tight grip was around my waist. I look down beside me and saw black hair as he lay all too close beside me. My heart almost leaped out of my chest when I saw Shinichiro still asleep. He had his cheek placed on my shoulder as he his head is tilted slightly upwards, giving me a view of his face as he slept peacefully. His warm breath fanned over my neck and I stare at him. He really did mature so much.
He looked more handsome than before but I can tell that his dumb demeanor is still within this very person. I can't help but smile at his figure. Last night when I saw him and the way he tried to start a conversation with me told me everything that I need to know about him after all these years. I know he's still the same person as before. He didn't really change much especially how he would always try to hit on girls and always end up chickening out.
To be honest, I expected him to give me a hateful look when we saw each other but instead, he caught me by surprise when he bothered to ask about how I've been and even apologized for what happened when it wasn't wrong of him to act that way before.
It's been so long since I last saw him up this close. Waking up with him beside me is like a dream to me already that felt out of reach due to the fact that we've split up back then.
But what can I say? It was my fault, of course. I know I got mad at him for not trusting me fully but I've known him enough for me to be aware he's a fragile guy. He was just manipulated before and I can't blame him if he's fallen into that trap. It hurt me that we had to separate in that way. But time can't be redone. It's just what it is. And there's nothing I can do to rebuild the trust he used to have for me. That's right. I can't bring back anything. I can tell that I've changed a lot. I can't be the same person he used to love back then. I can't be close to him anymore. It just hurts even more to have false hope when I know I can't make it come true.
With a sigh, I pushed a few strands of his hair away from his forehead only to catch a sight of his wound that I gave him. I want to apologize for doing so but my pride won't let me as I did it only for his safety. Suddenly, I felt his grip around me tighten and my eyes widen when he buried his face on my neck. Is he even awake??
I placed my hand against his chest and I push him slightly.
"Hey, wake up." I whispered at him quietly, trying not to jump him awake.
Slowly, his eyes fluttered open causing me to adore his sleepy feature. As he finally opened his eyes, he stared at me blankly as if he's still taking in my appearance in front of him this close. Feeling my cheeks heat up under his gaze, I look to the side avoiding more eye contact with him. All of a sudden, I heard his breath hitched and in a blink of an eye, he rolled to his side and stood up quickly in panic.
"I-I'm so sorry." I only nod my head and hummed in response as I sat up from the couch while eyeing our surrounding. Where are we even? I don't remember barging into someone's living room last night. I tried to recall what happened but everything just ended when I blacked out in the middle of the fight. As if he's read my mind, he spoke up while rubbing the back of his neck. "We're at m-my shop."
I raised a brow at him, noticing his nervousness around me. Does my presence intimidate him? I can't blame him if he's uncomfortable with me around after what happened between the two of us, I really wouldn't expect more.
I stood up and made my way towards the window. Right outside, I immediately caught sight of a familiar bike.
Tomoe's.
Did he see us last night?
"You shouldn't have brought me here." I said as I kept my focus on the person standing beside his bike, smoking while typing on his phone. I really don't have a good feeling in this one.
"Huh? Why?" I turn to Shinichiro who had his head tilted to the side in confusion and I waved my hand, signalling for him to come over. He peered over the window as well but he only got confused more. "Who's that?"
"Tomoe. The captain of our gang's attack unit. He's up to no good. Did he saw us enter your shop last night?" I backed away from the window and went to the door which I assume is the entrance of this room.
I never trusted Tomoe. He's a vicious guy and is too close to the commander. Too close that I think he wanted to dethrone him as the leader of Higanbana. He's a person I can't read as he's neutrally good and bad at times. And if he ever caught sight of me with Shinichiro last night, a wrong idea is what he'll convince himself. Even if I'm his vice captain, he wouldn't think twice to push me back down anytime whether he benefits from it or not. He is not a person who I can trust in terms of gangs and stuff.
I opened it slightly to peek but I was greeted by a narrow corridor. At the far end of the corridor, I spot bikes and materials placed in a neat manner which the sunlight probably from outside managed to shine upon the entire room. I went to the end of the corridor and took a peek of where the light came from.
"I think one of your member did." I heard Shinichiro approach from behind and I let out a cuss at his reply. Right outside the glass wall, familiar faces and bikes were on standby at the front of the shop. Shinichiro who also took a peek behind me was surprise at the crowd right in front of his place. "What the—"
"We need to get out of here." I pulled him by his sleeve back towards the room. "Do you have a back exit?" He nod his head in response and led me to a door at the end of the room which led to another corridor.
"What's the plan?" He asked beside me and I realized I'm still holding onto his sleeve. Retreating my hand, I answered while grabbing a tie from my side pocket and started to tie my hair in a bun.
"Go home." I opened the door and took a peek from the outside. The coast is clear as I see no sign of the gang around. I stepped outside and started to walk at a direction I have no idea where it leads to. However, I noticed that there's no one following behind me. I turn my head to the side as I gave Shinichiro a side glance. He stood in front of the door, watching me with a confused look on his face. "Hurry." I called out but he still stood there frozen.
"Y/N..." I raised a brow at him when I saw his face starting to go red.
"It's a motel's back entrance you're heading to."
