PLEASE READ MY NOTE AT THE END IF THIS CHAPTER!!!!!
Since today we we were having an open house, we went to look at the house we would potentially be buying. The price if the house and square feet make me want to vomit.
I decided to drive separate and meet my family there. First I stopped by Starbucks and ordered my Carmel Frappucino, then I headed to the new place I'd soon probably be calling home.
Slowly, I pulled up to the giant open gate that the house hid behind. I shook my head, 'this is way too big for the four of us' I thought.
The house was white, like the Simpsons' but like 2 times as big.
I stopped at the end if the long drive way. The house was even more beautiful up close. I could hear the waterfall from the pool. I slammed the door loud hoping they would hear me. The front door was hanging open. "Mom?!" My voice echoed. Everyone came down the steps. The realtor showed us around the house again so I could see everything. The house was huge. My parents bedroom would be in the top floor. Logan's bedroom would be on the 2nd floor. My bedroom would be on the main floor. There was a door connecting my room to a hangout room that wasn't listed on the website. We all had master bedrooms.
Next we went outside. I thought the pool at my old house was big until I saw this. The waterfall for the pool was huge. And I guess you could say it was built into the back of the house. Actually, there was a door in the Olympic pool area that lead to under the water fall. It was a pretty big space. Big enough that 12 people could sit under it. And it was kind of a horseshoe type shape that had a seat around the edge of it. The bottom of the pool was the same blueish-green- as my old pool. The hot-tub was built into the pool, but it was raised so you had to walk up steps to get to it and there was a deck built around it. The tennis court ran parallel, the. In the back of the yard was the large pavilion. The smaller one was I between the pool and tennis court. And the storage shed was on the side of the house.
"I really like this place." Logan blurted out the second that the realtor walked away.
"I love it. But I don't think it is practical for us. I mean, we are never home. We wouldn't be able to use anything here." I stated.
"Well, we wanted to buy a new house because Dan and I were thinking about adopting a child." My mom told us.
"What. Did. You. Just. Say?" My mouth dropped.
"Sophia, not a baby, but like somebody your age. Or a little younger. Since people older have a harder time getting adopted." My mom told me.
"Mom! It would cost a lot of money to do that! And the papers will take forever to go through! What about Logan and I? We have careers of our own! Him acting and me singing and modeling! What if this kid is like a total loser and doesn't want this kind of life? Or, what if they are like obsessed with Cody, Alli, Logan, or any of my friends and I and they like creep in our rooms!"
"Sophia. Logan, Dan, and I have already talked this through. We are going to adopt a 15 year old girl. She will have a bedroom on the floor Logan is on. We are going to meet her tomorrow. Her name is Marley Howe. Please try to consider the fact that we are giving someone a better life?"
She then walked away to find the realtor.
--------------Next Day---------------
Today we were going to the foster home that Marley is currently in so we could take her out and meet and spend time with her.
I got out of the shower and straightened my hair. I grabbed my high waisted short shorts and a purple crop top that was a little longer in the back than it was in the front. After digging in my closet for a little, I found my silver sparkly Sperry Top Siders.
Downstairs I grabbed a peach Greek Yogurt and ate it along with an apple. "We're waiting for you." My mom said as she walked inside from the back patio. I gave her a thumbs up since my mouth was full.
--
We got out if the car and walked to the front door of Marley's foster house. I really didn't want to do this. My mom knocked on the door. A few seconds later an older lady answerd. "Oh, you must be Marley's adoptive parents!" She exclaimed when she was my mom and Dan. "Come in! Come in!" We walked inside, she called up the steps and Marley came running down the steps a few minutes later. She was kinda dorky looking. She had really frizzy poop brown hair, braces with a ton of other metal in her mouth, horrible acne, and she wasn't exactly in shape. I forced air down my throat and plastered a fake smile on for my mom.
After talking with everyone for a little bit, we decieded to go shopping for Marley's room.
In the car, it was my mom with Dan driving, Logan and I in the middle, then Marley in the back. She wouldn't shut up about how she wanted her room to look. Damn, calm down. I was thinking. I did a silent pray when we got out of the car. The place was packed, we had to park in the back of the parking lot. As we walked through the parking lot, I was looking down at my phone, texting Toby.
"Sophia! I can't believe that your family is actually going to adopt me!" Marley basically yelled.
"Me either." I sighed, not looking up from my phone.
"So, is it true that you are pregnant with Christian's baby?" She asked excitedly.
I stopped walking and almost choked. "What the hell are you talking about?"
"The interview Christian had yesterday. He said you were pr-"
"Yea, I heard that." I cut her off. I walked away from her, trying to get to the store faster. My head spinning. Once I was inside, I bee lined for the bathroom. After pushing all the doors open to make sure no one was in there, I locked the main door. Then I went to Christian's contact and pushed call.
"Hello?" He finally picked up on the 7th ring.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" I whispered through clenched teeth.
"What are you talkng about?" I said irritated.
"Saying I'm pregnant with your baby to an interviewer? I mean really? Grow up. You wish you could've gotten it in."
"I still have-Oh that...."
"I didn't say that. The interviewer asked if the rumor about you being pregnant was true. I don't know why I didn't just say no. Instead I said 'What the hell do you think?" He corrected him self.
"You are such a dumb ass." I hung up and texted Toby back.
