I stood in the middle of my empty room. Slowly, I turned around and admired ever single thing. The walls had been repainted white, and the carpet freshly shampooed. I then slowly walked through my huge, empty house. This would be the last time I ever walked through it. Then I walked outside. I saw the beauty of my back yard for the first time. How beautiful all the flowers actually were. How good they actually smelled. I looked at the bubbling hot-tub. It was waiting. Waiting for the houses new owners. I never realized how perfect the shrubs had been trimmed. Or how tall the trees were. Nor had I noticed how each stone in the patio had been intricately placed. I sighed then walked back into the house, picked up the car keys to my new Range Rover and walked out front to my car. It's been a month since I knew we were officially leaving. A month since I first met Marley. I looked at the house and said goodbye...for the last time.
It seemed like the drive to our new house was taking hours, even though it took 15 minutes...tops. From the end of the block, I saw Dan's Suburban, my moms BMW, and Logan's Hummer. We had all gotten new cars yesterday. I slowly pulled in the drive way, and slammed the door loudly to let everyone know I was here. The minute I walked into the house, it felt wrong. It felt....too big. Like we didn't belong here.
My room smelled of fresh lilacs. I threw my keys into the dish on my vanity and it made a 'cling' noise. The walls of my room were grey. One light grey, the rest were a dark grey. All the accents were deep purple and the furniture was white with a dark brown hardwood floor. Then I walked into the room attached to my room. We turned 1/4 of it into a recording room. The rest was a hang out room with darts, ping-pong, foosball, air hockey and things like that in the back half. In the other half was a 75 in' tv with all sorts of systems and DVD players hooked up to it. There was a closet with 20-40 shelves full of DVDs and games organized my genre and alphabetized.
I walked back into my room and fell into my bed, face first. I just laid there for a couple minutes. Inhaling the smell of my room. When I finally found the energy, I got up and pulled my orange string bikini out of my dresser, I changed into it and put on my high waisted acid wash shirts. I then slipped on my white Marc Jacobs flip flops, placed sunglasses on my face and walked out the front door.
My walk to the Simpsons' house was slow, even though I was there in minutes. I pushed the front door to the house open, as if it were my own. And found everyone in the kitchen, including my family.
"SOPHIAAAAAAAAAAA!" Tom yelled when he saw me. He came running towards me and jumped into my arms.
"Hi Tommy!" I laughed and kissed the top of his head and set him down, following him into the kitchen.
I saw Marley in the kitchen with Alli, she was wearing a bikini. And really shouldn't have been.
"Finally! You're here! We've been waiting for you. Lets all go back to our house and hang out by the pool?" My mother suggested.
"Sure! I'll bring the strikes and burgers over, Brad will work the grill." Angie offered.
We stayed at their house for a while, talking about life and stuff like that.
Alli walked out if their house next to me. We left before everyone else. "I'll show you around the house?" I offered as I opened the front door. I showed her my room and the bottom floor first. "Wow, you have your own recording room? I think I might be coming here more than I thought. And I love the colors of your room." Alli complemented. Then I showed her the 2nd floor and Logan and Marley's room. "What. The. Hell?" She asked when she saw Marley's room. It had 1 bright pink wall, 1 bright purple wall and 2 lime green walls. "Um..yea.." Was all I said. We were both trying not to laugh. By the time I finished showing her everything, everyone was outback.
