Lisa sank her toes into the sand and let the icy water run over her warm skin. The afternoon sun was beginning to spread in an orange glow over the horizon. She took a deep breath of fresh air, a great contrast to that of the capital. The sky was more of a clear blue than a hazy white, and the air was less humid, the breeze swaying her hair against her face. She could feel the white sand beneath her feet, the waves slowly appearing.
It was beautiful.
She wasn't saying that Hanoi didn't have a beauty of its own. But there was something breathtaking about the beach at Hoi An, with its sandy coastline bordering the South China Sea and the Pacific Ocean, or so Jennie had told her. Lisa still thought there must be things to see in Hanoi, foods to try and cultures to experience. She even suggested they both take a day off to Ha Long Bay, but the brunette just shook her head and continued packing. Lisa packed her things without protest, trusting the girl; and it's not like she had another choice.
And when have I ever had a choice with you?
Lisa looked at where Jennie was standing, her arms spread wide and her thin white blouse swinging freely. The girl was watching the sun set behind the water in front of them, the sky getting darker with each passing second. She had that smile on her face that still left the blonde breathless, wanting to just stand there with her feet in the sand watching her until all the light disappeared.
"This place is amazing." Jennie sighed, keeping her gaze on the water. The orange light danced across the surface and reflected in those perfect brown eyes. It illuminated her entire face. It was in those moments that the brunette was even more beautiful to Lisa. In those moments when she was lost in the world and her walls were on the floor.
"Yes, it is beautiful." Lisa agreed, capturing her attention and letting a smile appear on her lips. "The view isn't so bad either."
Her smile only widened when the girl rolled her eyes in response and walked further ahead of the beach. Lisa laughed and turned back toward the water, looking out at the water that stretched the entire length of the resort and hit right on the sand. Couples and families strolled by, children screaming as they ran across the wet sidewalk, before jumping into the water.
Jennie was getting smaller and smaller as she walked, but Lisa didn't follow, knowing that at some point the beach would end and she would have to go back. So she went to one of the several loungers in the hotel, sitting down and leaning her back against it. The wood was slightly wet under her shorts and blouse.
Jennie stopped about thirty meters away from the blonde, the beach completely deserted except for the two of them. She was staring at the water again, her arms crossed over her chest. The brunette tucked her hair behind her ear before turning to where the taller one was lying, their eyes meeting despite the distance.
