Niamh and Jim both start walking again and make their way back inside. They sit back on the sofa. 'Has William been to see you?' Upon the mention of William's name, Niamh's cheeks start to go read. 'Oop, someone's blushing.'
'I'm not.' Niamh says quickly, slapping her hands over her cheeks. She drops her hands after a few moments.
'C'mon, it's no secret that you like him.' Jim points out.
'He's been like a brother to me.' Niamh deflects.
'But you want it to be more than that?' Jim asks.
'I - well - I don't - maybe if - ' Niamh struggles with what to say. 'He has a girlfriend.' She says. 'Or will do soon anyway.'
'Why don't you say something?'
'I don't want to ruin his chance of being happy.' Niamh looks down.
'Niamh, it's okay for you to be selfish once in a while. You deserve to be happy too.' Jim states.
'I know. It's not just that.' Niamh looks back up. 'I don't want to ruin what we already have between us.'
'I'm sure that won't-' Jim starts to say, but gets cut off by screaming. 'What the-?' Jim stands up quickly, as if on instinct.
BANG!
BANG!
BANG!
'L.A.P.D, get down!' Jim shouts, taking his gun out. The security guards had let him keep his gun on him because of his job. Everyone screams and ducks down.
'Jim.' Niamh grabs onto her brother. Jim turns to face her, and crouches down in front of her.
'It's going to be okay.' Jim reassures her. 'Get behind the couch until it's clear.'
'I can't go through this again.' Niamh shakes her head.
'I know,' Jim nods, 'but nothing is going to happen to you, I promise. Hide behind the couch and stay there, okay?' Niamh simply nods and climbs behind the sofa. 'I'll be back.' Niamh brings her knees to her chest and Jim runs off, calling for help as he does. As he's running down the corridor, he spots a crowd of people down where the pharmacy is. He runs up to them.
'L.A.P.D. S.W.A.T.' He flashes his badge.
'You got here quick.' A nurse points out.
'I was already here. I was visiting my sister.' Jim says. 'What happened?'
'One of the patients attacked a security guard and got their gun. They've barricaded themselves in the pharmacy.' The nurse replies.
'Start evacuating everyone,' Jim says, 'or get them all in one room and stay there.'
'We'll get everyone in the day room. Knock three times when it's safe.' The nurse nods and everyone rushes off to get all the patients in the day room.
An hour later, the situation has been resolved. Jim walks to the day room, knocks on the door and slowly opens it.
'It's safe.' He tells everyone. The same nurse from earlier walks up to him.
'Thank you.' They nod. 'You might want to go to your sister. She hasn't moved from behind the couch the whole time.'
'Thanks.' Jim smiles slightly. He walks over to her whilst everyone goes back to what they were doing. When he reaches her, he crouches down in front of her. 'It's over. It's okay.'
'I kept having flashbacks to the shooting at the movie theatre.' Niamh tells him, tears streaming down her cheeks. 'How Will was shot. How I was shot.'
