The King and Queen had arrived and seven little feet ran to the entrance hall to receive them after their long journey overseas. The older ones got there first, while the youngers struggled to keep up with their pace.
"Here, take my hand," Sunghoon said and Niki extended his small child hand.
They walked in together. The rest were already there, anticipating the entrance of the royals. Their arrival signified presents, and for the minds of the young boys there was nothing more important. Every time they had a trip, the elders didn't forget to buy exotic and foreign goods for the boys. It didn't matter that they did not all share blood, they were inseparable and the King and Queen saw that, so they treated them all like their very own children.
Sunghoon and Niki joined the line that the other boys had formed. Heeseung was at the right most end, followed by Jay and Jake. Then was Sunghoon with the youngest hanging at his arm, followed by Sunoo and Jungwon. Their anticipation filled the air. What kind of presents would they be receiving this time? After what felt like ages, the double doors to the castle opened.
"Hello, children!" the King's booming voice called.
"Hi!"
"Hello, father."
"Hello, your majesty."
"Hai, yo magesdy."
All seven boys welcomed the royals, jumping on their feet at the excitement to see them after such a long time. The Queen entered with her dress flowing behind her and a smile on her face.
"Oh, dear, I've missed you all! We've heard from Mr. Bang about all of you during our trip."
"He wrote some really good things about you," the King added. "Knight practices for the older ones started only a few weeks ago, right?"
"Yes!" Jay yelled, followed by Heeseung and Jake. Sunghoon remained quiet and swallowed carefully. His knight practice hadn't been very good. Their instructor had scolded him and punished him by comparing him to the other hyungs because he hadn't been able to lift a sword.
"You'll do very fine knights some day. It makes me proud."
There was small pause, for suspense.
"Which leads us to some gifts we bought you while abroad!"
The boys shrieked as the older man patted the pocket of his coat, where a bump could be observed. The gifts were hidden there. With the years, the children had learned to observe and evaluate the shape of his pocket to try to guess what each would get. This time, a big lump could be seen within. Whose present was that?
The King approached Heeseung, the oldest and rightful heir to their kingdom, first.
"My son, this is for you." A small leather box was produced and handed to the young hands.
