I sat down on a stump inside the tent. Bellamy, Clarke, Jasper, and Octavia joined me. Sitting on the table in front of us was the two fingers and the dagger. Bellamy picked up the dagger and examined it. He then looked up to Clarke as if thinking the same thing.

"This metal was made from the drop ship." Clarke said.

"What do you mean?" Jasper asked.

"Who else knows about this?" Bellamy asked.

"No on. We brought it straight here." Octavia said looking to Bellamy.

"Wait," I said. "That means the grounders didn't kill Wells. It was one us." A mixture of feelings rose in my chest. Grief. Fear. But mostly anger. Everyone else seemed to be having similar reactions.

"So," Jasper said breaking the silence. "There's a murderer in the camp?"

"There is more than one murderer in this camp." Bellamy stated. "This isn't news. We need to keep it quiet."

"Keep this quiet." I said through clenched teeth. "One of those people out there killed one of my best friends, and you want to keep this quiet. What if they kill again. We need rules, Bellamy."

Clarke seemed to be thinking what I was thinking. She moved to leave, but got blocked by Bellamy standing in her way. "Get out of my way, Bellamy." She said.

"Be smart about this." Bellamy said. "Look at what we've achieved-- the wall, the patrols. Like it or not, thinking the grounders killed Wells is good for us."

"Oh, good for you, you mean." Clarke yelled. "What-- keep people afraid and they'll work for you? Is that it?"

"Yeah, that's it." He said back. "But it's good for all of us. Fear of the grounders is building that wall. And besides, what are you gonna do-- just walk out there and ask the killer to step forward? You don't even know whose knife that is."

"Oh, really?" I asked standing up and grabbing the knife from Clarke. I pointed to the inside handle. "J.M. John Murphy."

"The people have the right to know." Clarke said grabbing the knife from me.

"Wait," I said grabbing Clarke before she walk out. "We don't want to start something out there. We bring him here, and question him. Make sure we get the story straight before we announce it to everyone."

Clarke looked at me angrily. "Aren't you as mad as me? He killed Wells! He deserves this!" She ripped her arm from my grasp and stormed out of the tent. I looked to my friends and Bellamy hoping they would know what to do, but they seemed just as lost as me. But I couldn't just stand there doing nothing so I ran off after.

I ran in to see Clarke run up and push Murphy. "You son of a bitch!" She cried.

Murphy laughed. "What's your problem?" He asked.

"Recognize this?" She asked holding up his dagger.

A bunch of people had gathered around to see what was happening. "It's my knife. Where'd you find it?" Murphy asked trying to snatch it from Clarke.

She yanked it back. "Where you dropped it after you killed Wells." She said.

Everyone got silent. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Octavia. Bellamy and Jasper couldn't be far. I looked back to Murphy who looked shocked. "Where I what?" He asked. "The grounders killed Wells, not me."

"I know what you did, and you're gonna pay for it." Clarke said getting closer. I stepped in and grabbed her shoulder making sure she wouldn't do anything she would later regret.
