Another boredom filled day passed. And much to my grumbling, the moonshine did help my wound. In fact, Clarke let me up and about for a while considering how healthy the wound looked.
Right now I was sitting by the fire filling ration bags with nuts. I would have been one of the people who helped collect the nuts, but Jasper insisted that I help him, probably because Clarke told him to. So when the others brought back the nuts, my job along with Monty, and Jasper was to unshell the nuts and then fill the ration bags. It wasn't the most interesting work, but at least I was doing something.
"Hey," Jasper said looking over to me. "Catch" He tossed a nut right at me, I opened my mouth and caught it. "Ohhh" Jasper yelled victoriously while raising his arms. "I am the king at this." He threw another nut, only this time at Monty who caught it. They did their little secret hand shake, which made my giggle.
"Jasper, the real skill lies with the catcher not the thrower." I stated. Jasper looked down at me like I had just slapped his ego. "Watch," I threw the nut I had just unshelled and tossed it at Monty who caught it easily, and in return he did the same to me with the same result. "Tada."
"Way to ruin my fun, Echo" Jasper said pretending to sulk. I just let out another giggle.
Suddenly a shadow passed by me making me look up from my job. It was Bellamy walking pass not even giving me a glance. My light attitude had changed to that of irritation. That's when I decided, enough was enough.
I stood up and marched quickly over to Bellamy. "Hey!" I yelled after him. Bellamy stopped and turned to see who had called him, when he saw me, he quickly turned back around and started walking again. "Bellamy Blake, get your ass back here!" The others in the camp looked at me as I walked after Bellamy. "You can't ignore me forever!"
Bellamy's shoulder's sank a bit as if he had sighed loudly. He stopped and waited as I caught up to him. "Can I help you?" Bellamy asked. Part of me wanted to smile at the sound of his voice, the gruffness was kinda soothing in a way.
"Yeah," I said shaking off the thought. "Why have you been ignoring me?"
"I haven't." He countered.
"Oh yeah, you haven't visited me once. Not once." I complained. "Everyone else has. Even people I don't talk too. I think our fearless leader should visit the sick and wounded even if he is to high and mighty to pay attention to them."
Bellamy's jaw clenched as his gaze looked up into the tree line. I internally praised myself for getting him to be able to do it. Finally, Bellamy grabbed my arm and yanked me off towards the wall away from everyone's peeking eyes. "I didn't think you would want me to visit, I mean the last time you saw me you were yelling at me while showing us your naked body." Bellamy said.
I scoffed loudly. "I wasn't naked." I said defending myself. "Besides it's not like you haven't seen a naked girls body before. Yeah, I know about your little escapades. God, you're a man whore." Bellamy's eyes scrunched up as if taken offense to what I said. "But that's not why I wanted to talk with you." I said getting back on topic. "Okay, so, yeah, I was mad at you, in fact, I still am a bit mad, but that shouldn't matter, I was mad at Finn and Clarke too, and they still visited me. Are you seriously just that scared of me and that much of a coward? It's not like I could hurt you, the worst that was going to happen was me yelling at you."
Bellamy was silent the whole time I talked. However, his face held all the emotion that he rarely expressed. He looked mostly uncomfortable, but he had hints of relief, and something else. "You done?" He asked sassily.
"You are unbelievable." I breathed. "How can a leader be as cold hearted as you."
"Cold hearted?" Bellamy asked raising his eyebrows with anger slowly creeping on his face. This sudden change in personalities made me take a hesitant step back. "I whipped someone for you. I helped save your life."
