Jimin anxiously pulled the cuffs of his jacket down over his wrists as he sat at his desk, needing to have something to do with his hands until the teacher arrived. Taehyung was in class A, because his last name was at the beginning of the alphabet, while Jimin was at the very end of class B, and they'd had to separate a tortuously long 15 minutes ago.

Taehyung was probably befriending all his new classmates, winning them over with his cute boxy smile, but Jimin had always been the shyer of the two, and he felt lost without his best friend by his side. He missed the bustling classrooms full of his friends and the slur of satoori ringing out from the chattering students back in Busan. He didn't want to have to make new friends. He didn't want to change the way he spoke. He wanted his old friends, his old school.

No.

He just wanted Taehyung.

Just wanted to not be alone.

"Hi! I'm Minji!" A girl's voice came too-loud in his ear and Jimin had startled, whirling to the side to find a girl about his height standing by his desk.

"She was cute," Taehyung recalled, closing his eyes and resting his head on Jimin's shoulder. "Always wore pigtails, with those hot pink hair bows."

"She was really popular," Jimin added. "I remember everyone staring when she first came up to me."

"You're Park Jimin, right?" Minji had pried, bouncing on the balls of her feet as her too-cheery voice rang out above all the other chatter in the room. "The new kid? I heard you're in a trainee program with that boy from class A. Is that true? What's it like? Have you met anyone famous? Omg, have you met Sehun oppa? Could you get his autograph for me?"

"I- I don't work for SM Entertainment..." Jimin had said quietly, reaching into backpack and pretending to search for his pencil pouch to appear busy. Hopefully this girl would get the hint and leave him alone.

"Oh, right, sorry," Minji didn't seem very sorry. "So, do you work for JYP or YG? Have you met PSY? Or G-Dragon?" She wrinkled her nose. "Or are you working for Cube? 4Minute is pretty cool."

"I'm not working for any of those companies," Jimin hurried to correct her. "I'm training under BigHit Entertainment."

"Bighit?" Minji's brow furrowed. "Huh. Never heard of it. But you must have met some pretty famous people!"

"Well, I've gotten to work with some pretty cool sunbaes, but not really-"

"Omg! You're from Busan?" Minji interrupted him, uncaring to hear anything more on the topic of his training. "You have the same accent as my grandma! The way you say 'really' is really weird, haha. Omg, you sound just like Halmoni, that's so funny! Can you say kimchi?"

"Um, kimchi?"

"She slapped my desk as she laughed," Jimin remembered with a frown. "The whole class stared. I hated it. It made me feel like I didn't know how to speak Korean properly."

"She did it to me too, at lunch, remember?" Taehyung's nose scrunched in annoyance. "Came over to where we were hiding in the back corner of the cafeteria with those nerds you befriended. Can you say 'kimchi'? " He raised his voice to a squeak as he imitated the girl's pitchy voice.

"It's not jimchi, it's kimchi!" Jimin squawked back, smiling proudly as Taehyung let out a small chuckle.

"Those unaccented heathens, thinking their way is the 'right' way."

"The audacity!" Jimin's brows furrowed exaggeratedly. "When we all know the Gyeongsang way is the right way."

"Didn't we have a whole entire rap battle about this?"
