Jungkook was just finishing the last lamb skewer when there was a knock on the door. The sound rang out through the dorm meanicingly, effectively silencing their lighthearted chatter. The boys sat frozen for a moment, silently psyching each other out as the mood chilled from warm and carefree back to the thick anxiety of earlier that evening as they remembered the situation they were in, waiting to see who would make the first move.
Eventually, it was Jungkook who stood up and headed to answer the door. His chair dragged across the wooden floor as he rose, the ominous scratch it produced making all his lovers flinch slightly. They were struck from their trance by Jungkook shaking his head fondly as he left the room, mumbling under his breath about his 'silly wimp hyungs'.
"Yah, brat!" Yoongi called out to him in mock outrage, breaking the tension. "That's no way to treat your hyungs!"
Instead of a response, they heard Jungkook's voice, greeting their manager, "Good evening Sejin nim, thank you for coming," and then his voice, this time laced with surprise. "Oh, Bang Sihyuk nim! Good evening to you as well."
"Bang Sihyuk?" Jimin mouthed, eyes were wide. He hadn't considered their CEO would be paying them a visit tonight.
"It does make sense," Namjoon mumbled. "This isn't exactly the kind of thing that can be taken lightly."
"We were just finishing up dinner," Jungkook's voice grew louder as he led their hyungs towards the dining room. "Can I offer you anything to eat or drink?"
"Good boy," Jin murmured quietly, proud of Jungkook for remembering his manners and being a good host.
"A glass of water would be lovely," Sihyuk mused as he, Jungkook, and Sejin entered the dining room. "But I'll get if for myself, Jungkook ah, you sit and begin filling Sejin in on the details."
"All three of you sit down," Hoseok jumped up, gesturing towards the empty chairs at the end of the table. "I'll get you both some water while Jungkook and Taehyung fill you in."
"Taehyung?" Sihyuk and Sejin looked sharply to the second youngest singer, who fidgeted nervously under the attention.
"I was under the impression only Jungkook ah was being blackmailed," Sejin said hesitantly. "Is there something you neglected to tell me?"
"W-why don't you sit down?" Taehyung offered, feeling his nerves subside a fraction as Yoongi took his hand under the table. "You see, the- um- photo that Jungkook is being blackmailed with is- well- a photo of me."
"Go on," Sihyuk sat down next to Sejin at the foot of their table, gesturing for Taehyung to continue speaking.
Taehyung swallowed past the lump in his throat, taking a second to internally laugh at the absurdity of seeing Jin seated at the head of their table, so far above their manager and CEO, to settle his nerves. "I'm sure you heard of the robbery at the mall last month?" He decided that was the best place to start, casting his eyes across the table to Jungkook and feeling emboldened by the nod the maknae sent him.
'Doing great,' Jungkook mouthed, sending him a double thumbs up that had him smiling despite everything.
"Yes, but what does that have to do with you and Jungkook?" Sejin asked, gratefully accepting the glasses of water Hoseok brought in for him and his boss with a nod of his head.
"Jungkook and Taehyung were at the mall that night," Hoseok explained, taking his seat once more. "The night the theft occurred."
"We were adequately disguised," Jungkook assured. "Masks, simple clothes, all that jazz. We went to multiple stores that night, and no one recognized us. Until..." He trailed off, looking to Taehyung to explain what had happened in the bathroom.
