Namjoon made sure both his and Jungkook's masks were covering their faces before hoisting the younger into his arms and stepping out of the van. "Thank you." He addressed the driver.

"I'm going to park in the non-emergency lot." The man responded.

"Alright." Namjoon closed the door and walked briskly inside the hospital for the second time that night, never once looking back as the van drove away.

Jungkook squirmed in his arms as they entered the building. "Joonie?" The ravenette murmured sleepily as he opened his eyes and immediately squinted at the bright lights. "Wherarewe~?"

"We're going to visit Jinnie hyung, baby." Namjoon reassured his lover. "We're almost there, but I need you to promise me something."

Jungkook blinked seriously, does eyes wide and curious. "Kookie can pwomise Joonie appa anything."

Namjoon stopped walking and leaned down to whisper in his maknae's ear. "Does Kookie feel a bit bigger now that he's had a nap?"

Jungkook nodded and held up five fingers. "Kookie is a big boy, he's this many fingers now!" He exclaimed, rather loudly.

Namjoon smiled endearingly at his boyfriend, placing a finger on the younger's lips through his mask to shush him. "Alright Kookie, Joonie appa needs you to do two very important things. He needs you to keep your voice very quiet, and he needs you to promise that you won't talk to anyone except for Joonie. Can you do that bun?"

Jungkook nodded determinedly. "Kookie can be good for hyungie. He pwomises." The ravenette held his pinky out to Namjoon, who cooed and shifted the younger's weight in his arms so he could interlock their pinkies before bringing their intertwined hands to his lips and placing a small kiss through his mask where their fingers connected. Jungkook giggled at the mask blocking Namjoon from being a gentleman, and Namjoon just smiled at the little's amusement. He put Jungkook down gently and together they walked towards the check-in desk.

The nurse behind the desk had long black hair that fell down to her lower back. It was very straight, but it looked natural, not appearing to have been forced into cooperation with copious amounts of hairspray and flat ironing. She was wearing teal blue scrubs.

"Joonie~" Jungkook whispered and tugged on his hyung's sweatshirt.

"What's wrong, little one?" Namjoon murmured, averting his eyes from the nurse to focus on his lover.

"Her clothes is the same color as TaeTae's pillowcase~" Jungkook said happily.

Namjoon felt himself smiling at Jungkook's childlike excitement over the simplest things. As he thought about it, he realized that this wasn't a new trait for the maknae, this wasn't specific to his little headspace. Jungkook had always been easily excited over things that the others overlooked. And that was one of the many things Namjoon loved about him. The ravenette was so observant, and he cared about even the smallest, most meaningless things. A memory floated back to him, a memory of the first time Jungkook had shown just how observant and sweet he could be.

It was about three months before their debut. Namjoon had been lying in his bed, staring at the wall for the past hour because he couldn't sleep. He was exhausted, but his mind wouldn't stop thinking, and everytime he nodded off, his brain would shock him back to wakefulness with another random thought.

'Nothing is ever on fire, fire is on the thing that's ablaze.' Namjoon wanted to bang his head into the wall at that dumb thought. So what?? Why did that matter? All he wanted to do was sleeeep.

'Killing a spider makes the spider gene pool sneakier and more deadly because you're killing off all the unharmful, easy ones to catch.' Namjoon shuddered at that idea and squeezed his eyes shut, trying to stop the tingly feeling he got all over at the thought of spiders. He could imagine thousands of arachnoids, their spindly little legs skirting all over him- and he shuddered violently. This was not helping him fall asleep.
