Hope

"Where are we going?" I almost shout in order to be heard. We have been riding for a while now and although I enjoy the feeling of his body so close to mine, I need to know. We are definitely out of town, but where exactly?

The night air caressing my face is a welcome distraction from my continuous thinking. I made a complete fool of myself when I threw up in front of him earlier. I have managed to destroy whatever erotic atmosphere there was between us and now I begin to worry about my decision to take off with him.

Slowing down until the bike comes to a complete halt; I am relieved in the prospect of stretching my legs. Helping me get down from the bike, he carefully takes the helmet off my head and asks me to follow him.

"Welcome to my home." He casually says before opening the door and ushering me inside. Once the lights are on, I am taken aback by the place. Exposed rock and wood walls, a rustic touch in the furniture mixed well with a more modern open plan kitchen. Minimal yet elegant with a very inviting and warm feel evident.

I follow him to the kitchen, still unable to say anything. Opening the fridge, he hands me a bottle of water and grabs a beer for himself. We just stare at each other and I am growing so uncomfortable by the minute. This is so awkward. Maybe it's best if I left. I open my mouth to say that but he speaks first.

"Why don't you use the bathroom while I make you some tea? I have a spare toothbrush somewhere if you want to." I will definitely take up on his offer. I need to get rid of the awful taste in my mouth. I let him guide me further into his house and I can't stop looking around in admiration. Beautiful paintings adorn the walls, a rather large bookcase with a vintage escritoire beside it. I love those. I always wanted to have one but it has never been compatible with the rest of my furniture.

"Here you go. If you need anything else, don't hesitate. I'll be in the kitchen." Thanking him, I take a look in the mirror. I am not that bad after all. I was expecting to look awful given the events that transpired but I am still relatively presentable.

I quickly brush my teeth and wash my face. A basket filled with clean towels is lying on top of a beautiful chest. Has he decorated the house himself? I take a careful look around and notice how clean and tidy this room is. I could have never imagined a man being so organized. We do have something in common after all. I fight the urge to open the cabinets and snoop around his things and after pinching both my cheeks for a more natural rosy color, I take a deep breath and head back.

I find Jax staring out of the floor to ceiling windows in the sitting area. With a beer still in hand and the other tucked in his pocket, I hesitate before clearing my throat. Once my presence is made known to him, I slowly walk towards his side.

"Thank you for the toothbrush, I will make sure to replace it." Taking a look at me like he is about to scold me, he opens the window and a very excited Luna starts running towards us. I watch him kneel in front of this beautiful creature and treat her with so much affection that makes me like him even more. People that respect and love animals are always good and sensitive, right?

I stand there watching him talk to her with such kindness and I smile to myself. How can Luanne not like him? What happened in their past? I can't stop thinking about this. Luna spots me shortly and shows how happy she is to see me again by almost crashing me to the ground. I erupt in laughter and play with her just like I did that night at the beach.

"She likes you a lot. When we got here six months ago, I thought that she would have a problem adjusting. She didn't seem to like anyone but me. One of my sisters is allergic to dogs as well so I had to leave her alone here whenever I visited my parents' house." He explains while I continue petting Luna's head.
