June 1992:

Jordan has been pacing around his house. Jon had been here for the last couple of weeks to help Jordan.

He was very nervous because he needed her parent's permission. He had bought her an engagement ring last week. He picked it up yesterday and it was time to finally talk to her mom and dad.

"Calm down little bro, they like you. You got this J."

"I know but I am still afraid. I respect her mom and dad so much. She is their only child and here I am asking for her hand in marriage and she's only seventeen years old and I'm twenty-two."

"Look, J her parents know how much you love Crystal. They know you helped her graduate early and you have always put her first. You just have to stay calm and make sure you breathe."

"I know and I will. Thanks, Jon."

"How are you going to do it without Crystal there?"

"Her friend Savannah the one she was with when we first met her is going to take her out to the mall at six. I have dinner scheduled at six-thirty with Gene and Loretta."

"I'm sure they already know why you are asking them to talk without Crystal there."

"I told them I wanted to take them out while Crystal was out for the evening to thank them for everything they have done to help Crystal and me in our relationship."

"Okay, well, It's time to leave. You got this bro just remember to stay calm and don't start babbling like you do when you get nervous. I'm gonna order a pizza for dinner. Have fun J I'm excited to hear what they said."

"Thanks, bro. I will be back." He took a deep breath and headed out the door. He picked Gene and Loretta up and drove them to the mall for dinner. Savannah took Crystal to Hamilton place mall while we went to Northgate to The Red Lobster.

They ordered their dinner and were having a nice conversation when Jordan took a deep breath and looked up.

"Mr. and Mrs. Gipson, Gene, Loretta, the reason I asked you to dinner tonight was I need to talk to you about something."

They both looked over at him and saw how nervous he was. "What is it, son?"

"Well, you both know how much I love your daughter. How much she means to me. Um, well I asked you to dinner tonight to make some promises to you both."

"Okay, look Crystal and I have been dating for the last fifteen wonderful months. She is the love of my life and I promise I will never hurt her, I will always put her first, and I will always take care of her."

"What I want to ask you both is for her hand in marriage. I want to ask Crystal to marry me, to spend the rest of her life with me, to become my wife, and to one day have my children, not right now but when we are ready to start our family. So, do I have your blessing to ask Crystal to marry me?"

They both looked at each other and back at him. They smiled and shook their heads yes.

"Of course, you have our blessing, Jordan. We already consider you our son, and we knew this would happen sometime. We can see how much you love our daughter. Yes, you have our blessing," Gene said.

Jordan jumped up and hugged Loretta and shook Gene's hand. "Oh, thank you so much. I just picked her engagement ring up yesterday."

He pulled it out and showed them both. Her mom gasped at the size of the ring. They both smiled at him.

"That ring is huge Jordan. So, when are you going to propose to her?" Loretta said.

"Well, I was going to wait until Christmas but then I couldn't wait so within the next couple of weeks. I am planning the proposal I want it to be really special for her because she deserves the best. That is why her ring is so big nothing is too good for my girl."
