Chapter 53: Our second grandbaby is here

Dante, Sarah, and little Nate had been home since the day after he was born. Sarah is doing really well with him. Dante gets up and helps her a lot. He is off work for the next six weeks. 

Selena is in her last week her due date is six days away. She is due on May 13th Nate was born on April 15th.

He is growing so fast and he smiles already. Crystal and Jordan have been helping take care of him but mainly Sarah and Dante have done it all. Crystal and Jordan gave them a few helpful tips but other than that they have been perfect. 

Even Selena and Eric have learned to help with diaper changes and giving baths. So, when their daughter arrives they will be ready. 

Jordan flew down after Sarah's baby shower for the night to check on Danny. He is going back after Selena has the baby. He asked me if he could stay a few days with him.

I told him of course, Danny needed him and we would be just fine. He didn't really want to go and leave me here. I told him Danny needed him right now and we would be just fine. I think he is going to stay for three or four days.

We were all in the kitchen while I cooked dinner. "Selena you look like you are about to pop."

"I feel like that too, Sarah had Nate a little over two weeks early but it seems like she doesn't want to be born, the doctor scheduled our appointment for three days after the due date. He said he may induce at the next appointment. I am so ready for this to be over. 

"She will come when she is ready, sometimes you just have to be patient. Trust me we felt the same way with both Dante and Eric. We were so anxious to meet our babies but then when the time came we panicked."

"I know we will too, but you guys did so great walking Sarah through it and keeping them calm."

"We will do the same with you. How much did the doctor say you had dilated at your last appointment?"

"Three and said it should be any day now."

"Have you been having any pains in your stomach or back?"

"Some pain in my back but not bad I think it's just sore from carrying all this extra weight around."

"Maybe but keep an eye on that, back pain can mean labor."

They ate dinner and then went to the living room to watch some tv. Dante and Sarah were already in bed and Eric and Selena went to bed a few minutes ago. 

They had just turned the tv off and were heading to bed when they heard Eric yell mom, dad it's time. They both ran upstairs. 

Selena's water had broken and she was having a contraction. Jordan and Crystal gathered their bags. "Okay, Eric do the same as we told Dante to do wash her legs and feet and help her change into something clean and comfy."

"We have your bags we are going to clean this up and go change clothes we will meet you outside. We will drive your car home to the hospital and then tomorrow then we will bring yours back."

Jordan grabbed some towels and the mop. He cleaned up the mess while Crystal grabbed the bags. They headed downstairs while Eric was cleaning her off. They ran into their room and got changed. Jordan sent quick group texts to her mom, his mom, and siblings. He put his phone in his pocket and they went to the car. He placed their bags in the back and pulled it right by the door. 

Crystal was waiting on the kids to come down. When Eric and Selena came down they helped her in and took off to the hospital. 

When they arrived Crystal carried the bags in and followed Eric and Selena. They went to the maternity floor and signed in. 

Three hours later their granddaughter was born. She was five pounds, six ounces, and she was nineteen inches long. She had brown hair and green eyes. She looked just like Eric when he was born. 

Eric came out to take them back to see her. She was so beautiful Crystal smiled at her granddaughter. Their first baby girl Jordan was rubbing her cheek with his hand around Crystal as they stared at her in amazement.  

"Mom, dad we have decided on a name for our daughter, it comes from both of you. Mom, we used your middle name and dads. Meet Starla Marcella Knight."

Jordan and Crystal both gasped as she had the sweetest name from them. "it's beautiful Eric and Selena, she is beautiful."

"Thank you both for naming her after your mother and me. That is the greatest gift you could have given us besides our first granddaughter. That is the same name we had picked if we had a girl when your mother got pregnant and lost the baby so that means so much to both of us."

"Jordan, are you ready to hold your granddaughter?" He smiled and sniffled as he took her from Crystal. He looked at his beautiful granddaughter he would always protect her. Now he could buy the shotgun to keep the boys away."

Crystal had decided to be called Nana and Jordan had picked papa J. They both looked at Eric and Selena, "congratulations to both of you, you did so well, she is absolutely beautiful. We have been very blessed with two handsome sons and now a handsome grandson and a beautiful granddaughter."

"We are going to head home, but I told Dante the same we aren't sure when they will release you, so if you get hungry use my doordash and order your food as long as you are in here. We will bring your car back tomorrow and I will bring ours." Jordan handed Starla back to Crystal. They both loved on her and then handed her to Eric. 

They hugged Eric and Selena and headed home. Eric was showing Selena the pictures he took of his parents holding their daughter. 

Jordan and Crystal were very blessed in this life, he had an amazing career, he had enough money to support his family, they had a beautiful home, he had married a great woman who he loved so much, he had two amazing sons, and now two precious grandchildren. His life was full of happiness. 

They pulled up at their house and Dante was downstairs with Nate on the couch. "Hey, how are Selena and the baby?"

"Mother and baby are both fine. She is gorgeous, look at your niece." She leaned over and showed him pictures of the baby. 

They talked for a few minutes, "we are going to bed son we are exhausted. Goodnight, sweetie, and good night to my little lovebug, nana, and papa J loves you. Sleep well, son." She hugged them and kissed them both on the cheek and they went to bed. They stripped their clothes off, tossed them in the hamper, and laid down. They fell asleep very quickly.
