I was really excited for this morning that I woke up really, really early. As in 5-in-the-freaking-morning early. I was even the first person in the house who woke up! Can you believe that? If one of my parents or my siblings finds out about this, they will sure be thanking all the gods they know for this impossible miracle that happened. And when Mom woke up sometime around 6 to 7 in the morning and saw me sitting at the island with a mug of hot chocolate and a book in hand, I wasn’t wrong about my thoughts.
Right at the moment I met her gaze, her eyes widen from shock. “You’re awake? At this time? For real?” Mom gasped.
I rolled my eyes. “Is it really that hard to believe mom?”
“Well yes! I mean, you never woke up at this time since you were just a whining baby!” She exclaimed, walking over to me.
“Well who even told you I went to sleep?” I said as I took my sip from the mug without taking off eye contact.
“Oh please, you look very well rested to me. And besides, you snoring in your room last night was enough to know that you were actually asleep,” she answered, rolling her eyes at me.
Now that was beyond the line. “I wasn’t snoring!” I told her rather rudely.
“How would you know? You are asleep,” she grinned.
I was taken aback. She did have a point there. But I’m not the kind of person who snores! I got back to my glaring self again and bore my glare to her. “I just know,” I said stubbornly, crossing my arms across my chest. “It’s my body so I know that I don’t snore.”
She snorts. “Alright, keep telling yourself that honey.” And with that she disappeared to the kitchen and made breakfast.
I stopped doing whatever I was doing and thought hard. “Do I really snore at night?” I asked myself. And I swear I heard my mother’s laugh from the kitchen.
After breakfast the pain on my ankle came back again and mom has to give me pain killers to make it go away. She even told me that maybe I shouldn’t go with Julius to school today but of course I waved the thought off and told her that she was just freaking out and I’m fine.
When we were done eating breakfast, Jeremy and Kiefer helped me up my room, but in between climbing up the stairs, Kief grunted and decided to just carry me.
“What the hell?!” I swatted his arms away from me, making Jeremy laugh.
“This will take us forever, Saab! And you only have one hour before Julius arrives!” Kiefer snapped, still insisting that he’ll carry me.
“But you can’t carry me all the way up there,” I said.
She raised her eyebrows at me. “Oh really? Some other guy who you just knew a few days ago can actually carry you to your room and your own brother can’t?” Is that jealousy I’m hearing from his voice.
A small smile escaped my lips. “Are you jealous, Kiefer?” I asked him, my eyes glimmering.
“Oh please,” he waved me off. “Me? Jealous? Little sister I can do whatever I want whenever I want because I’m the brother here and he’s just a nobody.”
