That Thursday afternoon, instead of being in my house watching a wonderful movie while eating ice cream or munching popcorn, I found myself stuck in one of the most famous dress shops in Colorado. Homecoming’s tomorrow night and with all the work given to us since the past week; this is the only time we have to buy ourselves outfits.
I was sitting on a couch, a book in band, as my friends giddily gather dresses for them to try on. Chelsea, Taylor, Sam and Shannon (yes, she had to come since her best friend Chloe already bought her dress a week ago) have at least 10 dresses hanging in their arms as they ran to the cubicles across the couch I was sitting. The four girls pulled their curtains closed at the same time and I rolled my eyes. “Girls,” I mumbled.
I focus my attention to the book I was reading, Amy Carter’s Gallagher Girls Series. I’ve been re-reading the books since Monday and I’m not down to the fourth one. I would’ve finished all books by yesterday or probably Tuesday night if it weren’t for my being busy for Homecoming.
As I flip a page, Taylor’s curtain rag opened and out came the girl on fire. She’s wearing an orange yet yellowish ball gown, kind of resembling the color of fire. The bodice is fit on her, but she looks like she can still breathe. The waist part hugged her curves perfectly and all in all, she looks glamorous in it. If only the theme isn’t about being “dark, sexy and mysterious” with the emphasis on the word dark, then maybe it would be the perfect dress for her.
My gaze went back to the book I was reading as I addressed her matter-of-factly, “You do know that the theme is nowhere near orange, yellow or any bright colors, right?”
From the corner of my eyes, I saw Taylor roll her eyes. “I’m just trying it out, Saab.”
Chelsea’s curtain shot open. “Yeah,” she agreed, making me look at her from behind my book. “Unlike you who can’t put her book down as you admire Zach so much.”
Taylor chuckled. “Zach, oh how I would die to have you in my life.” Taylor does the worst imitation of anyone. And what she just did proved that.
“Shut up! At least I’m doing something other than thinking about—”
“Taylor!” I was stopped my Sam’s sudden outburst. “You look stunning dear,” she commented.
I looked at Sam, then at Tay and Chelsea. They all looked at me in warning. Then the third curtain opened, revealing Shannon in a very wonderful black gown. Her gown is pure black with a silver chain wrapped around her waist. Starting from the silver chain on its waist, the dress flows down in fluffy circles, kind of forming a rose. She looks so sexy and mysterious. And I actually forget that she’s with us.
“Oh,” my mouth formed an ‘O’ as I realize that Sam’s outburst is intended for me to stop blurring out my secret feelings for Julius in front of his girlfriend. I sent a silent thanks to my friends as I scowled at my idiocy.
Chelsea shook her head at me, probably amused, then turned to Shannon and say, “Looking good, girl.”
Shannon smiled. “Thanks. You’re beautiful in that dress too.”
Chelsea’s wearing a black and silver V-neck gown. The straps have a silver lining that forms a V and at the tip of it, it’s connected to the silver belt circling the part just below Chelsea’s chest. If she pin her hair up and leave a few stands to emphasize the shape of her face, Tyron will definitely forget his own name. Heck, he’s even going to forget his whole existence as she will be the only one he’ll be seeing and remembering. I smirked at my best friend.
“Yeah, Ty sure will not be taking his eyes off you on that night.”
Chelsea blushed, but a smirk appeared on her lips. “And probably his hands on my ass too.”
