"You want to explain to me what all that was about"
After the very uncomfortable tension around the breakfast table Annabelle decided to get some training in to blow off some steam. Locking herself in the renovated tin shed for the past hour, now dripping in sweat and collapsed on the mat out of exhaustion.
Pounding foot steps entered the room as James stormed over. He tried so hard not to be effected by any of the comments earlier but being left with his own thoughts for the last two hours. He was going insane.
After Annabelle left the table, he excused himself to freshen up still sweaty from the run. After his quick shower James began searching the compound for Annabelle wanting answers, finally finding her in her sweaty state.
Leaning herself up on her elbows she watched as James stood over her. Her wide eyes looking straight up at him.
"We need to talk"
With a nod of confirmation James began to spit out his anger and disbelief on whats happening. Accusing her of avoiding him and messing with his head, even a few jabs about her past relationships.
Annabelle shot up from the ground, absorbing a second wind of energy. Roaring ready for this virble sparing match.
"I? I'm avoided you? I'm messing with your head?" Her finger was pointing in his face, trying so hard to come across as aggressive. James always found it cute when she got angry but he was quickly realising he had never experienced her true rage before.
"You have chosen Steve over me the minute he got back and you found out who I was. You haven't been able to look me in the eye or stay long enough to have a proper convocation all week."
The uncomfortable force between them caused James to step back as Annabelle was grilling him, now pressing him clean against the lockers. Her finger pushed into his chest.
"You act like I am something to be ashamed of and I am sick of it. I thought I could wait around and play this game but I am done!"
Spinning on the balls of her feet Annabelle picked up her gym bag and stormed out of the Shed. Making her way out into the early afternoon sun.
Standing in the centre on the compound, surrounded by freshly cut grass. An overwhelming sense of emotions washed over her as she fell down onto her knees. Her frustrated screams echoed through the compound.
Following closely behind her James knelt down next to her. Conflicted on whether to comfort her or not, he settled with sitting there in silence.
"Go away James, There is nothing else I have to say to you"
Swivelling on his knees he statured himself in front of her. One hand placed lightly on her knee whilst the other guided her face up to his level. Looking at those beautiful blue eyes of hers he realised how badly he screwed up.
He doesn't want to lose her, even if it meant losing his best friend. She had become his family and comfort when no one else was there for him.
"I love you, Annabelle. I can't lose you - especially not to some random SHIELD agent."
-------
"He what?"
"He said 'I love you'"
"and sounds like he accused you of sleeping with someone else? - What did you do?"
"I walked off Nat, Is that really what he thinks of me. That I would ran off with someone else, even when we are still figuring out whats going on with our relationship"
"Well, I bet the conversation at breakfast didn't really help matters" Annabelle shot a daring look at Natasha at the comment.
"All I'm say is, we where all talking about your tendency to sleep around and drink your problems away and then you told Tony that you weren't in a relationship anymore. - I know that it was to get your dad off your back but to Bucky, it might have felt to real."
Falling back into Natasha's bed Annabelle realised she was right. James didn't know what Annabelle was like back then, he also didn't really know her relationship with her dad.
To him all of the jokes and comments may have come across with more meaning then they where meant to.
A soft knock at the door pulled Annabelle out of her spiralling thoughts as Natasha opened the door, letting a large and gorgeous man step in.
"Can we talk? - No yelling, I promise." He added, throwing his hands in surrender.
Natasha excused herself from the room as James stepped closer towards Annabelle. Bending down so that he was kneeling next to the bed about to confess his venerable feelings.
"I know that wasn't the best way to say I love you, but it wasn't a lie. I think I've known for a while now I was just to scared to say anything. And then at breakfast everyone was talking about you with other guys and I couldn't stand the thought. I don't want you to be with anyone else, I want you all to myself. I love you, and I now know I can't live with out you by my side, annoying me everyday."
Looking down through her tear filled eyes as a stray tear fell down her cheek. Knowing that those three words was all she wanted to here from him.
Could she be so reckless to forgive him, she was just as much to blame for all of this as he was. Hushing out her worries she remembered reckless was one of her finest traits and if she didn't jump at the chance to be in-love, even just for a moment then she would live to regret it.
Pressing a long passionate kiss into James lips all worries where washed away for that split second. It wasn't until Annabelle pulled away that James noticed something awfully strange and new going on in her eyes.
They where blue, not her usual ocean blue. But like a swirling storm of electric and deep blues. It was mesmerising, gone with a blink of her eyelids.
Annabelle quickly suggested for them to leave Natasha's room incase someone came walking in. Knowing that if the others - Tony and Steve mainly - found out about this from someone other then Annabelle there would be a new Civil War.
