Her eyes were slowly starting to open and i felt like i had been revived. I waited for her to fully adjust her eyesight and when it happened, i stared deeply into her Hazel-brown eyes. She was still alive. I reached out to touch her face only to see her wince. I got this sudden feeling of worry and decided to speak to her for the first time again in 3 weeks.
"Hey, Hange? Are you okay?"
She didn't answer but only laid there with pain written all over her face. After that accident, she was sent to one of the best hospitals and for threw weeks she had been worryingly unconscious. I came to visit her every single day in hopes that one day she'd finally wake up. Sometimes I thought she was dead. But she was still breathing.
"What am I doing here?" , she finally asked.
"You fell. But it's alright now. You've been under care and the injury isn't fatal. Just a mini fracture in your arm and a broken rib but the doctors said you'd make it. I got the most worried when your breath became shallow"
"Oh... Ah shit I'm late for work", she said attempting to get up. It angered me so much as gently pushed her back into bed.
"You idiot! Worry about yourself sometimes dammit! You've just gone through something that could've been disastrous and had me, Nanaba and your colleagues worried!"
She was quiet. I felt a pang of guilt "I'm sorry. Just never wake up from an accident and get concerned about work. It scares me"
We both sat in silence before the doors opened and her doctor, Dr. Jeager came in.
"Ah! Hange Zoe, you're finally awake. Glad you are! Er, Levi, can you please give us a few minutes"
Every time he said to give him a few minutes I hated it. "Don't do anything fishy", I told him glaring before leaving the room and waiting outside impatiently, walking round in circles. After 10 minutes the door flew open and he walked out smiling.
" I spoke to her about her condition. She should be discharged in about a week. And she's desperate to see you"
I shoved past him and went into the room. She was now sitting up, fiddling with the arm that had a bandage wrapped around it. I walked to the other side of the hospital bed and sat next to her.
"Feeling any better?"
She nodded "you're not here with Petra? I thought she'd come too just to keep an eye on you"
"We broke up."
I could see her jaws drop, her mouth wide open. Yeah I don't blame her to be in utter shock.
"It's my fault isn't it?"
"No Hange. She was just too clingy. And we hand constant fights over her misunderstanding. It wasn't a healthy relationship. When she found out I'd be visiting you every day after your accident she became enraged and didn't want me seeing you again. When I tried reasoning with her that I couldn't leave you helpless, she became furious saying I chose you over our relationship. So I broke up with her"
"Doesn't change the fact I caused it. If I was never there in the first place, she would have never been an overprotective girlfriend. And if I was good enough, maybe Moblit wouldn't have done what he did to me"
"Hange leave it. Forget him, it happened over a month ago, I don't want you going through that awful phase again. And Moblit just doesn't have good taste okay?"
She nodded. But it was until after I realised what I said. 'Moblit just doesn't have good taste '? What on earth did I mean by that. The nurse brought in her lunch. She barely had anything.
Hange was discharged from the hospital a week after like Dr. Jeager said. She was looking better physically and I decided to tell her my next plan later.
*Hange's POV*
I had resumed work and for once my students were happy to see me. They were less stressful and Eren actually gave up on his lame excuses.
It was that season where it got darker earlier and it became chilly. I was often sneezing and my only clothing to keep out the cold was my coat which wasn't completely useful. I was working on my lessons the next day late at night and my sneezing was constant. I felt hot and had a runny nose. There was a pack of tissue next to me and a bin filled with the dirty ones. Levi walked into the living room and slowly sat next to me. I was typing aggressively been with my slow healing hands.
"I can't imagine being in your position. Teaching sounds like a pain"
"Depends who you're teaching. My class became easier to handle", I told him still focused on my work. I began feeling dizzy and awfully tired whilst still sneezing. I reached to grab a tissue the same time Levi reached to grab some. His hands touched mine and as it did he got a hold of my hands feeling it. Then the back of his hand found its way to my forehead.
"You have a cold? "
I sneezed "it's not that bad"
He got a thermometer and measured my temperature. Then frowned.
"Stop lying to yourself, four-eyes. Get up. I think you've done enough work for the day", he said getting up and offering his hand. I took hold of it and stood up only to fall into him. And he was short.
" I'm too dizzy. I think I'll sleep here for tonight"
Before I could say anything else, he picked me up in his arms.
"L-Levi..."
He got my arm and placed one over his shoulder to make it easier for him. He headed towards my bedroom like carrying me was nothing.
"You're light" , he told me.
"You're strong"
"Stop flirting with me, shitty glasses"
"You started it!"
I could've sworn, I saw Levi Ackerman smile. But it was impossible for him to keep it on for long. He doesn't show his emotions around other people. But I'm not other people. He cried four times in front of me. And yelled at me twice in high school. Once for getting over excited and messing up in a group practical and second for messing up the room he had once spent hours cleaning up.
He opened the door and slowly put me in a bed. It didn't feel like a Futon but I was too tired to ask and just wanted to fall asleep.
A/N: This book is slowly coming to an end 😢. I think I'd probably write about 2 more chapters or a little bit more. But I seriously have to congratulate myself considering this is my first ff. Anywhos, enjoy reading the last few chaptersss
