it was around a year ago now, when they first met.
both josh and simon had started youtube and managed to get in touch with each other by means of their comment sections, instantly hitting it off with each other.
well, when i say first met, i really mean first message, as still one year on they were yet to meet up in person simply due to busy schedules and distance between them.
it kind of began when josh left a comment on one of simons youtube videos, and simon replied to him when he realised it was a fairly big channel.
this continued back and forth on various different videos before josh received a dm from simon on instagram that lead them into a whole new realm of conversation and sparked a connection between the two, and they'd talked almost every day since then.
they were internet best friends, and josh felt like he could trust him with anything, even feeling he was closer to simon more than most of his real life friends.
it wasn't until more recently he noticed a change in the way he felt towards the blonde haired boy, and realised he was becoming more and more infatuated every time they video called.
he was becoming restless at the fact he only had photos and videos to see him, wanting to just be able to get lost in the sea of his blue eyes and run his hands through his hair.
it was a couple of weeks ago now, and they'd just filmed a video together over discord playing one of their random games and they were chatting casually as they usually would.
"ok then, i'll call you again tomorrow for another recording session then yeah?" simon asked, smiling into the webcam of his pc.
"yeah yeah, i should be free at our normal time so i'll see you then simon" josh replied, trying not to gaze for too long at the man on his screen.
"alright, see you josh" simon said, about to hang up the call.
"yeah, bye simon, love you"

the call had already hung up and josh began to completely freak out, he had not meant for that to slip out of his mouth but it just happened subconsciously.
he had no idea how simon had reacted, or if he even heard what he said at all. he might have just thought he meant it platonically.
but all the same, josh was left in the unknown and was not about to call him back and go rambling to simon about what he just admitted.
so he kept quiet.
and no more was mentioned on the matter.
he decided he had to go and finally give his best friend of almost a year a surprise visit.
