when simon left school at the age of 18, he vowed that under no circumstances would he ever return, wanting to leave it all behind and move onto the next step in his life.

although, little did he know that he would have landed a job at a school only 6 years later, after his university degree in mathematics left fewer options than he'd anticipated.

he only ever took the course because he had always been a genius when it came to maths, and thought that it would be a breeze. that, and the fact he very much enjoyed it, which would seem quite weird to the general population.

so when he realised he wasn't ready to let go of his passion, he made his way onto a teacher training course and was now teaching maths in a local secondary school, a few hours away from where he grew up.

he discovered that whilst it was very stressful at times and that kids could all be little shits, especially of a certain age, he enjoyed it a lot more than he ever did when he was a student.

not to mention he was now getting paid to go every day.

he'd made a lot of friends over the years he'd been teaching there too, finding the other staff were all very friendly and had many a story to tell about the scandals and rumours that occurred on the regular.

he also found it funny to see how different they could be when comparing their teaching personality to their generic personality; whilst some seemed strict and boring in the classroom, they could actually be a funny, friendly colleague to the rest of them.

simon liked to pin himself as one of the 'fun' teachers, both in and out of the classroom - however there were plenty of examples of the said split personalities all across his school.

one of those was mr bradley. whilst he was part of the geography department across the yard, he and simon had become quite close friends over the recent years, and simon seemed to be drawn in by his warm, welcoming smile.

however after observing one of his classes when he was on his training for the job, he found that despite what you may think, josh was able to snap at anyone in the blink of an eye, for absolutely anything that was irking him.

it only took a few too many whispers for you to be sent straight out of the classroom and to land yourself a detention, his booming voice to be heard from way down the corridors.

simon often compared josh to marmite, in the sense it was a sort of 'love it or hate it' situation.

on the one hand josh was a fun, outgoing friend that the kids could make easy banter with, but on the other hand he was a strict, viscous teacher that you didn't want to be on the wrong side of.
