if there was one word to describe josh bradley, it would be solitary.

the boy was never seen to be hanging around with anyone - no friends, no siblings, just him.

he would only ever talk to people if they spoke to him first. his unsociable, hostile personality making him that way - he said he got it from his dad.

over time though, he was slowly getting worse and worse. he used to always be up for a chat with anyone if they wanted, but his days now consisted of a moody face and frightened younger students in the corridors.

dressing almost everyday in a leather jacket and hoodie combo with ripped black jeans, pierced ears and a couple of tattoos. it's no surprise people didn't want to approach the 'punk' of the school.

there's only so long you can go without any friends before you drive yourself down a crazy, lonely whirlwind of feelings.

simon, on the other hand; he was popular, he was on the football team, with a vast array of swooning girls and two-faced friends.

he'd never set out to be that way though. his friendly, approachable features alongside his people-pleasing mindset meant he found it difficult to say no to anyone and was always a helping hand, no matter how rude they were - he said he'd got it from his mum.

he preferred to wear clothes that were typically worn by any high school jock in any high school movie ever. the classic varsity jacket and jeans were a main go-to, he felt like they made him fit in more and not be judged. as a member of the football team, he had a reputation he felt like he needed to uphold.

this leads us to now, and it was just another day at school with the cafeteria bustling and the school yard full of screaming kids.

it was josh's second to last year at school, and now in sixth form the 17 year old was pretty much ready to leave this place and start a new life at the university he'd yet to choose to attend - provided he got the grades of course.

sat at a table in the corner by himself, he slowly munched through his soggy sandwich he bought from the cafeteria and scrolled through his social media, the same old boring posts and stories one after the other.

more and more obnoxious people just giving an excuse to show themselves off to random people who couldn't really care less, is how josh always put it as. it didn't change how addictive he found it though.

he hovered for a few seconds over a post from a boy in his year called simon who josh had a few classes with here and there, not to mention their lockers were pretty much next to each other. he wasn't going to deny it, he knew a hot guy when he saw one.
