You're Safe Here- JJ

A cold breeze blew through Aaliyah's open window, she tossed and turned as she struggled to fall asleep. This was a nightly routine- waking up during the middle of the night and being lost in thought, not being able to fall back into a deep slumber.

Aaliyah turned over to face her door, she glanced at her phone- 1:32am.

She groaned and snuggled deeper into her blanket as the wind picked up making the room colder than it already was. Aaliyah didn't mind though- she could never sleep in warm temperatures her surroundings always had to be cold.

Her phone vibrated on the beside table next to her, she initially chose to ignore it but it kept going off with notifications.

JJ- Are you awake?

JJ- I lowkey hope u are cause I'm outside

JJ- Lia?

JJ- LIAAAAAAAAA

Aaliyah sighed and lifted the blanket off of her body, making her way to her window. She poked her head out and gasped at the sight in front of her.

"JJ!" She shrieked, her hands flying to her mouth in shock.

JJ gave her a painful smile- trying his hardest not to upset the girl any more than he already had.

"Can I come in?" JJ croaked out

Aaliyah nodded her head rapidly and shut the window, making her way to the front door. She swung the door open and watched as JJ stumbled into the house, letting out grunts of pain and discomfort.

"Oh JJ..." Aaliyah whispered sadly, she held onto his hand and carefully took him further into the house. He was covered in blood, cuts and bruises from his head all the way down to his legs.

JJ collapsed straight onto the lounge, hugging his stomach in pain.

Aaliyah walked over to him and sat down next to him, "We have to clean you up J, you don't want them to get infected."

JJ weakly nodded his head and allowed Aaliyah to lead him into the bathroom to clean him up.

"What happened JJ?"

JJ's bright blue eyes nervously looked around the room as he was clearly trying to avoid eye contact with Aaliyah.

"We don't have to talk about it if you don't want to." Aaliyah reassured softly

JJ winced slightly as she dabbed a wet cloth onto a cut on his cheek, "It w-was my dad a-again."

Aaliyah frowned and placed the bloody cloth onto the bathroom counter, she ran a hand through his messy hair and examined the rest of his face.

"JJ you shouldn't of went there." She mumbled

"I know. I-I just- I had nowhere else to go."

"You can always go to John B's, and you're always welcome to come here no matter what time it is and no matter what has happened."

JJ gave the girl a genuine smile, he rested his head against her stomach and took a deep breath in- inhaling the comfortable smell of her sweet perfume.

"Can I stay here the night?" He whispered

Aaliyah lifted his head up and held onto both sides of his face, "Of course."

The two teenagers stared into one another's eyes for what seemed like forever, admiring all the little details about each other. Aaliyah's breath hitched in her throat as JJ began to lean in closer, his lips almost touching hers.

"I better clean the rest of your cuts before they get infected." Aaliyah announced, breaking the intense moment.

JJ coughed awkwardly and nodded, handing her a alcohol wipe and a cotton tip.

"Yeah- that'd be best."

After Aaliyah had successfully disinfected JJ's cuts and wiped away all the blood she found him fast asleep on her bed, wrapped in her blankets and cuddling one of her spare pillows. Aaliyah couldn't help but smile at the vulnerable boy- he always hid his true feelings, he never showed anyone how hurt he really was. The one thing Aaliyah loved about JJ was that he always put others before him, he cared so much for people and he was more loyal than you could ever imagine. He didn't deserve to be treated the way he was, he deserved so much more in life.

Aaliyah carefully grabbed a pillow off her bed and a spare blanket from her cupboard. She quietly made her way to the door so she could sleep on the lounge.

"Where are you going?" JJ whispered

Aaliyah froze and turned around, "I'm just going to be on the lounge."

JJ shook his head and pulled some of the blankets back.

"Don't be stupid this is your bed- and I kinda want you to stay with me." JJ admitted shyly

A red tinge covered Aaliyah's cheeks as she gave JJ a shy smile, "Sure."

Aaliyah climbed into her bed next to JJ, he instantly wrapped his arms around her pulling her close to his chest.

"Thank you- for looking after me Lia."

"Of course, you can come here anytime. No matter what."

JJ smiled gratefully, giving her a light kiss on the top of her head.

"I'm glad I have you in my life- as cheesy as that sounds I really mean it. There's not many places I feel safe and here- with you is really the only place I do."

"I'm glad."

This one was a bit shorter and the ending wasn't the best but I hope y'all enjoyed it!
