I Think I Fell- Rafe

The sun glared through the gap of the curtains, Rafe watched carefully as it glistened against Octavia's tanned bare shoulders.
He admired her sleeping figure that was curled beneath his blankets, the events of last night still fresh in his mind.

"You're giving me that look again." Octavia mumbled, her hazel eyes still closed shut.

Rafe shuffled closer towards her, resting his head against her.
"What look?"

Octavia opened her eyes and turned around to face him.
"You're giving me the look like you're getting feelings."

Rafe's eyebrows pulled together, his mouth falling agape. He'd be lying if he said he'd never thought about being more than just friends with benefits with Octavia, the thought crossed his mind more than he'd like to admit.
But Rafe Cameron wasn't the first one to catch feelings, in fact he never caught feelings.
For anyone.
Rafe has had his fair share of flings and friends with benefits arrangements and quite a few girls have fallen for him despite their rules and he was quick to end it.
But with Octavia he couldn't bare to end it, he wanted more of her.
He had to constantly fight the urge to hold her hand, kiss her forehead, whisper sweet nothings into her ear and hug her from behind.
He just wanted to show her off to the world as his and only his.

"Rafe? Can I ask you something?" Octavia mumbled

Rafe looked into her eyes and nodded slowly.

Octavia let out a sigh and began to fiddle nervously with the hem of the blanket.
"If one of us caught feelings- would you end...this?"

Of course he wouldn't. He didn't want to lose her- even if that meant keeping the arrangement they had. Rafe was almost desperate to wrap her in his arms and make her his once and for all. He wanted to remind her every day that she was beautiful, that her smile was contagious and her laugh was intoxicating, he wanted to nuzzle his head into her neck just to breath in her addicting perfume. She had no idea that she held his heart in the palm of her hands.
Yet he stayed silent.

Octavia scoffed and shook her head, "So if I caught feelings for you- would you end this?"

"I uh- I don't know." Rafe lied

Octavia bit the inside of her cheek angrily, "Whatever Rafe."

Octavia quickly sprung up, ripping the blankets from her naked body. She gathered her clothes from the floor and began to put them back on.

"Wait! What are you doing?" Rafe asked, his eyes widening at her actions.

"I think it's best if I leave. I also think it's best if this whole thing ends." Octavia muttered, making hand gestures between the two of them.

Rafe's eyes widened, "Wait Octavia-"

"Don't call or message me, I won't answer."

"Octavia please just hang on a minute!"

Octavia crossed her arms over her chest, glaring angrily at Rafe.
"It's pretty clear that all you want me for is for sex. You don't even have any intentions to know me! You just expect me to be at your beck and call whenever you can't keep your dick in your pants!"

Rafe shook his head, "I didn't think we needed to know each other for sex- I mean we only agreed on sex."

Octavia scoffed and slipped on her shirt, she grabbed her phone from the side table and rushed out the bedroom door.

"OCTAVIA!" Rafe yelled out, stumbling out of the bed and racing after her.

Rafe didn't think that way at all.
He wanted to know everything he didn't already know about her.
She wasn't just a booty call for him, she was so much more.
He'd fallen so hard for Octavia but he assumed she didn't feel the same way- that she was only in it still for the intimate part of it all.
He couldn't lose her.
She meant too much to him.

"I know you're favourite colour is purple!" Rafe called out.

Octavia froze, she slowly turned around to face Rafe.
He ran down the spiral stairs, walking up to her cautiously.

"Good for you." Octavia mumbled, getting ready to leave again.

Rafe quickly grasped her hand, "I know you're scared of the deep part of the ocean, I know when you see angel numbers you scrunch up your nose- cross your fingers and make a wish, I know you cry every-time you watch a movie and a dog dies, I know you're favourite food is pasta."

Rafe took a step closer to Octavia, using his free hand to hold her cheek.
"I know you're zodiac sign is a cancer, I know you're obsessed with 5 Seconds of Summer and you know every word to every song in their album Calm! I know you light the same candle every day because that's what your grandmother did, I know look in the mirror daily and wish you looked different even though you are the most gorgeous girl I've ever met."

He leaned closer to her face, placing a soft kiss on her forehead.
"I know you have to wear matching under garments otherwise you feel mismatched."

He placed another soft, lingering kiss against her nose, "I know you hate when people interrupt what you're saying and I know when you can't sleep you put on the same movie and watch it until you fall back asleep because it gives you a sense of comfort."

Rafe let go of Octavia's hand and grabbed onto her waist, rubbing circles into her side.
"I love you Octavia! And I can't- I won't end this because I can't lose you." Rafe spoke

Octavia stood in shock, her eyes widened and her mouth slightly agape.
Tears fell from her hazel eyes, sliding down her face.

Rafe's mouth lingered near hers, his hot, minty breath fanning against her face.

"I know you Octavia." He whispered, finally pressing his lips against hers.
He could taste the saltiness of her tears as their lips moulded together.

Neither of them dared to pull away, both of them scared the other one would disappear into thin air.
Rafe pulled her closer into his chest, savouring the intimate moment.

Octavia pulled away, her lips slightly swollen and red.
Rafe lifted his hand and wiped the remaining tears from her face, slightly smudging her mascara.

"I think I fell." She whispered

Rafe smiled, "Yeah?"

"Yeah." She giggled

Rafe pressed his forehead against hers, grabbing both sides of her face with his hands.

"I think I fell too."
