"You better be right." Aiden clearly wasn't in a great mood.
"No, I am, just trust me." Avery was quiet and seemed incredibly scared.
"I just want this all to be over." Amaya spoke for us all when she said that.
"This is it." An eerie silence whistled through the trees.
"You've brought us to this creepy, abandoned house and you expect us to go in there? Are you insane?!" Aiden cried. The house was tall and dark. It's windows were covered with planks of rotting wood. We walked up the stairs to the front door and wood creaked beneath our heavy feet. We all stopped at the top of the staircase, shooting glances from one to another. Then everyone's gaze laid on me. "Fine." I sighed. Slowly, I crept towards the old door. Ice tingled raced my blood as my steady hand touched the rusty door handle. Hesitantly, I pushed down and what I hoped wouldn't happen, happened. The door swept open and a cold breeze blew on our faces. We stepped inside, but as soon as Aiden (the last person in) walked through the door, it slammed shut. The silence was loud. Then, the familiar buzzing noise. Avery let out a whimper as I dug my phone out of my pocket. We stood almost in pitch-black, so I couldn't see her face, but it wasn't exactly difficult to realise she was sobbing. On my screen, was a message:

"Good work Avery; you worked it out! I think all of your friends should thank you. Now that you're here, we can play a little game: come find me.

-Joker"

"I DON'T WANT TO PLAY YOUR STUPID FREAKING GAME, OKAY? I AM DONE. I CAN'T DO THIS ANYMORE." Avery cried. Amaya tried to hush her, but was stopped by the same, gut-wrenching buzzing sound:

"Poor, little Avery. Yeah, sorry, I have no time for this. If you guys want to get out of here alive with Sadie, then you're going to listen to my instructions. In a few moments, lights will come on. Then, you will see 4 doors; each one marked with either a heart, diamond, spade or club. Now, I'm assuming you're smart enough to work out who has to go in which door, and hopefully you realise that you must enter your room alone.

Good luck!
-Joker"

Bright lights flooded the hallway. As we were told, there were 4 doors in front of us. "No," Avery whispered. "I can't do this. You can't make me do this-"
"AVERY!" Aiden snapped.
"Woah, woah, woah — calm down." I tried to avoid the drama.
"No, I won't calm down. I am sick and tired of us all having to work around Avery. We're not kids anymore! Grow up and get on with it like the rest of us so we can get the hell out of here!" His tone was harsh. Avery's eyes were bloodshot and her mascara trailed down her rosy cheeks.
"I'll see you all on the other side." I tried hard to mask my fear.
