The loud pounding on the door woke me from my trance."Who is it?" Amaya called.
"It's us." Called back a familiar voice.
"It's Aiden... and Axel." she said, not even trying to hide the surprise in her voice.
"Avery, no pressure, but we're relying on you." Axel said as he burst through the door.
"Yeah, it's all on you: who is it?"
"I- I'm not 100% sure, but-"Buzz.
Four in-sync buzzes that appeared as one cut me off. My whole body completely froze. Axel's husky voice startled me. He read:
"Aww, don't put too much pressure on my girl Avery. Well, she's not my girl anymore, I suppose. Go on, diamonds. You're right, so tell them. Tell them who I am, Avery. Explain to them what you did.
-Joker."
"Avery?"
"What are you not telling us?" Questions flooded my brain. Suddenly, I broke into tears. Joker was right, I really have put a noose around my own neck; at least that's what it feels like. Joker, or should I say Scarlet, is constantly watching us. How am I supposed to tell them that I've been lying to them this entire time? As far as they know, Amaya is the only person I've ever even kissed, but that's not the truth. Back in year 8, I met up with a girl called Scarlet, and we had a thing, but then I ghosted her. See, that's why I can't tell my friends; what if they think I'm a bad person? Oh, God, I'm a bad person, aren't I?
"Avery!" Aiden's harsh voice snapped me back to reality.
"Sorry, I just don't know what to say."
"Well you better think of something, and fast."
"I know where she is. I know where we can find Sadie."
