"Oh, sweetie, we are so proud of you. You're going to do wonderful things, my dear." Lily, Iris' mom, said as she kissed her daughter on the cheek.
The Campbell's were holding a graduation and birthday party in one for Iris. So, it was an extravagant party to say the least. Iris was grateful, but she didn't always care for the extra things her mom planned and that was because she felt like it was a pity party for missing out on so many aspects of her life.
"Thanks mom." Iris smiled as her dad, Rich, engulfed her in a hug.
"We love you so much Iris Lillian. We support whatever you'd like to do in your future."
Four days.
It had been four days since she last snorted cocaine.
And it was all she could think about.
And she started dripping in sweat when she thought about it, which Rafe had noticed, so he tended to distract her.
"Should we cut the cake?" Rafe asked, grabbing a hold of her hand and rubbing circles on the back.
It was like all their fights in the last few weeks had never happened.
It was calm and quiet.
Almost too quiet.
As if a storm was currently brewing.
No, Iris, stop it.
Things are back to the way they used to be.
The way they should be.
"That's a great idea, Rafe!" Rich exclaimed as he gave the knife to his daughter.
The party went on for a few hours before everyone left, thankfully. She tried to spend most of her time with Tatum and Sarah, but once they were gone she was subjected to hanging out with Rafe, which wasn't bad, she just liked being around her friends sometimes. And Rich and Ward vanished at some point to discuss business, leaving Lily and Rose to drink wine around the counter.
"Why do they always disappear?" Wheezie asked as she texted on her phone.
"Probably because they're doing illegal shit." Rafe said, making Iris' jaw drop as she smacked him playfully.
"Hey! Why do you think that?"
"You're telling me that those two haven't been chasing after the Royal Merchant for years?" He said, shaking his head as he lowered his voice, "They had a deal with John B's dad at one point, y'know, before he went missing."
"Wait, how do you know this?" Iris asked, curiously.
"I eavesdropped, obviously." He shrugged it off, "You should try it sometime."
"What if they had something to do with John B's dads disappearance?" Wheezie asked, chewing on her lip.
"I'm sure they didn't, Wheeze. Don't worry about that."
