TW/CWs: Intrusive thoughts, anxiety

----------------

In only a few minutes, the duo had finished the walk back to Tubbo's house and were walking up to the front door. Tubbo paused as his hand grazed the handle, and turned to Ranboo with something undetermined in his eyes.

"You're not going to run away again, right?" Tubbo said, his voice impossibly small. It tugged at Ranboo's heart to see the brunette so scared, and he felt guilty for causing it.

"No, of course not," Ranboo said, putting his hand on Tubbo's shoulder.

"I was overwhelmed by all the stuff that was happening. I wasn't thinking straight," the tall boy said, gently squeezing Tubbo's shoulder. The smaller boy smiled softly.

"Ok, thank you for being honest with me," he said with a smile and turned the doorknob. But it didn't twist.

"What the fuck?" Tubbo jiggled the doorknob, but it remained stubbornly bolted.

"Shit, we're locked out," Tubbo said in an annoyed tone.

"Can't you knock?" Ranboo questioned. Tubbo sighed.

"Yeah, but then you'll have to meet my mother," Tubbo said, rolling his eyes.

"Is she mean or something?" Ranboo asked nervously.

"No, she's just a bit... extroverted," Tubbo said, and Ranboo raised an eyebrow.

"You'll see," Tubbo promised dramatically and raised an apprehensive fist to knock. He slowly knocked three times, and on the third knock, the door flew open. A short woman with red hair tied back into a ponytail stood in the entryway.

"Toby!" she exclaimed, pulling him into a suffocating hug.

"I was worried sick, where were you? I was about to call the police! Never do that again, you hear me? You have a phone for a reason, you know. And you missed dinner! I had to put it in the fridge so it wouldn't go bad, you can microwave it when you get inside. And who's this?" Tubbo's mom talked a mile a minute, half scolding him but at the same time hugging him. And Tubbo sent Ranboo a look that said; See what I mean?

"Hi mom, this is Ranboo," Tubbo answered simply, ignoring her other questions.

"Hey," Ranboo said awkwardly. The woman released Tubbo and smiled at Ranboo.

"Hello dear, it's nice to meet you! My goodness, you're tall! Do you know Toby from school, and for how long? Ooh, are your eyes real or do you have contacts in? Are you spending the night here? Are you hungry? We have leftovers from dinner if you'd like," the redhead rattled non-stop, and the consistent onslaught of questions was making Ranboo anxious.

"U-um," Ranboo stuttered, trying to answer, but the woman obliviously chattered on, now talking about her dog. The tall boy began to get pretty anxious and uncomfortable.

"I-" Ranboo was once again cut off by the woman.

"Oh! And we've had Rocky for about six years now, here's a funny story about when we adopted him..." Ranboo began to fidget restlessly, and luckily Tubbo finally noticed Ranboo's on-edge behaviors.

"We're gonna go upstairs," Tubbo announced loudly, taking Ranboo's hand and dragging him up a set of stairs. They got to Tubbo's room and simultaneously flopped down onto the bed.

"I see what you mean, and I'm sorry for ever doubting you," Ranboo said, and Tubbo laughed.

"Yeah, I got used to it after a bit," Tubbo said, looking over at Ranboo.
