[𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐢𝐱 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐬]

" The young girl looked at the burning house,

Ignoring the sound of all those shouts.

The smoke of fire filled her nose,

While the danger crept close "

Her eyes looked at the ashes, it felt good, the warmth, the light. It made her feel less alone. It made her feel alive again. It made the coldness in her heart and body to go away only for some mere minutes. It made her dead and numb soul to smile. She heard them scream, she heard the sirens but she didn't move.

She liked it, and the person she became sickened her. Even at that young age, she knew this wasn't good. However, it was a guilty pleasure. Something she didn't want to let go. She wanted to stay there for a bit more. Just a little bit more.

Red, hot liquid rolled down her cheeks. There was no need for looking or touching to know what it was. The young kid was used to this. She looked unfazed. She liked the sounds she heard. The smoke was around her, and the crackling sound in the background gave her pleasure.

Fire, a wondrous thing. Give it a dry thing and this creature would eat it. Even a small glint could become a big arson if didn't stopped, or worked with caution. Human nature worked a lot with this part of nature, both as a weapon and a toy. And in the wrong hands, it held so much power that it was hard to describe. Just like now.

"You did good kid."

Feeling a hand on her shoulder, she smiled. She didn't need to look at the hand, or even at the presence behind her to know who it was. The voice belonged to none other than her dear friend, whom she had an innocent child-like crush on. Growing up with it for five years made her familiar to it. From the material of his bone like hand, to the echoic voice of his. From the haunted words he would whisper — up to the dark jokes he made. Sometimes, they made her shiver. Sometimes, they made her smile and sometimes giggle.

"Happy birthday!" he said.

The girl could feel him smile, even though she didn't turn back to look at him. After all, he didn't want her to know him yet. He was aware of so many things. Things such as how the human mindset would never love or accept someone like him. Even now, (y/n) looked at him as a friend, as a guardian angel.

Guardian angels are always right.

That's why she always listened to him.

He, of course knew about this. The demon's mind was always wondering — How would she react after finding out his true nature? Would she still stay with him? Would she still like him? Would her perspective of him alter?

All of the above of course, and he knew it. Gazing at the future, he could only see small parts here and there, but they weren't enough of a satisfactory to him.

He wanted her all to himself.

Not that pesky good for nothing sibling of his, nor the useless annoying rivals that fought for his queen's heart. He didn't need anyone to be close to his new succession. Keeping her alive wasn't easy, he failed so many times. That's why he didn't want anyone else having his treasure.
