Palace of love

4 1 1

Her palace of love, kindness, and simplicity
was open for everyone; not for publicity.

But they used her, abused her, accused her.
And behind her back dissed her.

So brick by brick she built a wall high and thick.
Little did she know her decision was a little quick.

Words of growth were gone with the words of the blow.
Silence filled the aisles; courtyards covered in snow.

But as a hammer worked a break though the walls for years;
the echoes of her footsteps disappeared.

Through a small crack sunrays filtered in.
Her eyes squinted, the warmth felt on her skin.

A hole cracked bigger, a fresh rose entered through.
Potted and watered by her it bloomed and grew.

In his warm soft eyes she caught a glimpse of hope;
thinking maybe she found a way to cope.

Small talks with little walks, deep eyes with warm smiles;
he sat behind the walls but felt away a thousand miles.

When he waited for her permission to get in,
she feared like others he would jump in.

To be inside the palace was what he needed.
But to be on her side - she pleaded.

As he hammered the walls for years;
he wipes all her tears and fears.

And when she finally lowered her walls,
he smiled at her walking down the halls.

The halls of trust, respect, and love built over the years;
giving her the strength to build barriers.

So that the love would filter in and evil remains;
because the thorn of a rose might prick and pain.
