_____________________It's been two days - halfway through the allotted time to figure out Geto's motive. Though you haven't been out much to scout out any information, you were able to hear a few offhand comments here and there through your door. From some murmurs on preliminary drug trafficking routes to the rambles of the incoherent Mahito talking about his specific kills of the day, you were almost desensitized to the severity of their crimes at this point.
The only certainties you had was that they wanted you alive for some reason. Was he using you as bait for Satoru, as a hostage to lure him out perhaps? If Geto is willing to slit your throat if you're unable to solve a mystery, perhaps that wasn't it. His motive wasn't something restricted to you, but why go through with the hassle to get you in the first place?
Then again, if you're unable to solve it what will happen? Sure you'd die, but what would the aftermath be? Would he use your corpse as another distraction for a different scheme... it's likely. But Satoru already had to go through another heartbreak. The criminal organization - no. This criminal organization had already kidnapped Riko and killed her. She must have gone through the same thing you're going through now. She wasn't able to solve Geto's motive, either.
This truly was an impossible task. There's no way you'd be able to figure it out with what little you knew. If Satoru couldn't do it, if his past apprentice couldn't do it, what's the difference with you?
Nonetheless, your accommodations were a different story. Suguru Geto told you to knock if you needed anything, so you decided to test the limits of what you'd be allowed to have. So far you've gotten your requests for a desk, a chair, writing instruments, notebooks, a clock, and even some measuring equipment. Nonetheless, some more obvious tools were denied including a wrench and screwdriver kit, card stock, a butter knife, and oddly enough cigars. You weren't too sure why you wouldn't be allowed cigars, but with everything else you've gotten who were you to complain?
You were alone most of the time, but once a day Suguru Geto himself would show up. Why you were one of his daily priorities was still beyond you, but he was consistent. Always coming at 3:00 and leaving at 3:30, he'd stop by to chat. This would never be about anything useful, just pleasantries and icebreakers. It was strange.
Speaking of which, it seems it was just about time for your usual visitor to make an appearance.
"Come in, Geto," you muttered, sitting at your desk while tapping your pen on the table. You knew he was there as soon as the clock hit 3pm... you didn't need to wait for a knock. You had the specific timbre of his footsteps memorized, a fragile sound that had started to make their way into the room.
"Hard at work as ever," the mysterious man hummed about, placing his hands on your shoulders. You could feel his long hair brush against your cheek as he leaned over you to observe your notes. "Hmm... you write like a professional detective that's for sure."
You looked over your shoulder to meet his sharpened gaze. "...thank you?"
"Don't take that as a compliment," he frowned, standing back up. Dusting off his cotton button up, he continued his distaste. "Detectives are pitiful creatures trained to clean up other peoples messes. What a shame it is to use some of societies most valuable assets as nothing more than janitors."
Pressing his lips together, Suguru turned around around to take a brief pause. Nonetheless, as the air became stale he spoke up once more. "You asked for a cigar, am I correct?"
The cigar? It took you a few moments to nod. Why was he bringing that up now?
Rolling his eyes back, the male focused on your outline. "Why was that?"
