Ember arrived on the platform just as the Weasley, Harry and Hermione had finished loading their trunks and owls on the train. Hermione was the first to spot her.
"Em!" Hermione cried out joyfully and started to run towards Ember.
Ember smiled brightly and picked up her pace as well. The two girls hugged each other tightly when they reached each other. Ember was then soon hugged by Ginny. Ember then hugged Ron and Harry.
"Oh, it's so good to see you all." Ember said as she released Harry.
"Hey, Em!" Fred said loudly from behind her causing her to practically leap ten feet in the air.
Fred then wrapped her in bear hug not even noticing he'd scared her half to death.
"Here, we'll get your trunk on the train." George offered.
"Thanks, George but you don't have to. I can handle it -" Ember said but Fred waved her off and helped his twin get Ember's trunk on the train.
"Thank you!" Ember called after them.
Ember then greeted Mr and Mrs Weasley. Mrs Weasley hugged her tightly.
"It's lovely to see you, dear." Mrs Weasley said kindly.
"And you Mrs Weasley. I hope you all enjoyed Egypt." Ember said politely.
"Oh, yes very enjoyable." Mrs Weasley said with her kind smile.
Mrs Weasley then looked around.
"Where are your parents, dear?" Mrs Weasley asked.
"Working." Ember replied, ignoring the stab of guilt in her chest at lying.
Mrs Weasley fought very hard not to scowl.
"Well I must get in touch with them. Tell them we'd be more then happy to have you stay with us the night before Hogwarts so you don't have to travel alone. What's your address?" Mrs Weasley said with great effort not to sound like she was criticising Ember's parents.
Mrs Weasley couldn't help but notice that everytime she saw Ember after the summer holidays that she seemed to get skinner and skinner. Mrs Weasley so wished to ask Ember more about her home life and had asked Ron and Harry as well as Hermione and all three of them realised that they actually knew nothing about their friend's life out of Hogwarts. Every time they asked she avoided answering. They didn't even know her address, Hedwig was just good at finding people.
Ember was saved from responding by the sound of the whistle blowing.
Mrs. Weasley kissed all her children, then Hermione, then Ember and finally Harry. Harry was embarrassed, but really quite pleased, when she gave him an extra hug.
"Do take care, won't you Harry?" Mrs Weasley said as she straightened up, her eyes oddly bright.
Then she opened her enormous handbag.
"I've made you all sandwiches. Here you are, Ron. . .no, they're not corned beef. . . Fred? Where's Fred? Here you are dear. . ." Mrs Weasley said.
"Harry, come over here for a moment." Mr Weasley said quietly and he jerked his head towards a pillar, and Harry followed him behind it, leaving the others crowded around Mrs. Weasley.
"There's something I've got to tell you before you leave -" Mr. Weasley said in a tense voice.
"It's all right, Mr. Weasley. I already know." Harry said
"You know? How could you know?" Mr Weasley said, perplexed.
"I - er - I heard you and Mrs. Wesley talking last night. I couldn't help hearing," Harry added quickly. "Sorry -"
"That's not the way I'd have chosen for you to find out." Mr. Weasley said looking anxious.
"No - honestly it's OK. This way, you haven't broken your word to Fudge and I know what's going on." Harry said.
"Harry, you must be scared - " Mr Weasley began.
"I'm not." Harry said sincerely.
"Really," Harry added, because Mr. Weasley was looking disbelieving.
"I'm not trying to be a hero, but seriously, Sirius Black can't be worse than Lord Voldemort, can he?" Harry said.
