"Hit me." Ember said as she sat down next to
Sirius."That's child abuse." Sirius responded as he poured himself a firewhiskey.
It was the same day as when Ember went to question Selwyn but it was now pitch black outside as Ember and Sirius sat in the kitchen of Sirius's new house.
Ember rolled her eyes. "You know what I mean." Ember said as she pushed a glass towards Sirius.
Sirius grinned. "Moony may just skin me alive and turn me into a rug if I did that."
"Well, what he doesn't know won't hurt him." Ember shrugged.
Sirius chuckled and he poured her a glass of firewhiskey. "I think you've earned it after today."
Sirius and Ember clicked there glasses together and knocked back the firewhiskey in one go. While Sirius felt a burn in his throat, Ember didn't.
"What did you do?" Sirius asked Ember. She turned to look at him with one eyebrow raised in curiosity. "To Selwyn." Sirius clarified.
"Well after I got the answers I wanted he asked me about Icarus. I may of told him Icarus is alive and looking for him." Ember said and she couldn't hide her grin.
"But Icarus is dead." Sirius said confused.
"But Selwyn doesn't know that and he'll spend the rest of his life waiting for an attack thar will never come." Ember said, grinning unashamedly now.
"Respect, Carrot Top. Nicely played." Sirius said, beaming with pride as he poured himself and Ember another drink.
They clicked their glasses again and knocked back the firewhiskey. Ember's grin faltered.
"Do you regret it?" Sirius pressed gently as he poured them another firewhiskey.
"No, it's just . . . I never thought I'd be capable of any of this. I guess I can just see how much I've changed and, well, I think a part of me misses the girl I used to be." Ember said.
"Many will miss the girl you used to be." Sirius said, his eyes dark as he frowned. "She was easier to kill." He said bluntly.
They knocked back the firewhiskey again and Sirius poured then another.
"Better hope Professor Lupin doesn't find out you gave me not one but four firewhiskey's." Ember joked.
Sirius let out his bark like laugh. "Well, you're not going to be a child for much longer as he pointed out to me last night."
"I don't feel like a child." Ember admitted as she took a sip of her fourth fire whiskey. "To be honest, I haven't felt like one for some time now."
Sirius didn't respond. He stared at her. Listening. Letting her get it all off her chest.
