Ember clutched onto Sirius for dear life. She
didn't know what that veil was but she didn't have a good feeling about it and he was seconds away from falling right through it. Harry had rushed over to them."Is he okay?" Harry asked frantically.
"I don't know!" Ember said and she looked wildly around in desperation.
Dumbledore had most of the remaining Death Eaters grouped in the middle of the room, seemingly immobilised by invisible ropes; Mad - Eye Moody had crawled across the room to where Tonks lay, and was attempting to revive her; behind the dais there were still flashes of light, grunts and cries - Kingsley had run forward to continue Sirius's duel with Bellatrix.
Lupin converged on Harry, Ember and Sirius. He pointed his wand at Sirius. "Enervate!" Lupin said.
Sirius's eyes snapped open. Lupin sighed. "You just had to get cocky, didn't you?" Lupin said, exasperated.
Lupin and Sirius both laughed as Lupin pulled Sirius onto his feet, away from the veil.
Ember hugged Sirius tightly around the middle. "You're okay." Ember said relieved.
Sirius wrapped his arm around her shoulder.
"Ember, where have you been?" Sirius asked her urgently, as if just remembering he's been going out of his mind while everyone else was looking for her for weeks.
"We found her here. In the Department of Mysteries." Harry said.
"What happened? Look at you, you're mess! What did they do?" Sirius asked, his voice filled with panic.
"Actually I got all these injuries after Harry found me. Except these." Ember said and showed Sirius her arms that were full of puncture marks from all the needles and injections.
Sirius grabbed her arm and brought it closer so he could examine them closer. His expression darkened considerably.
"What did they do?" Sirius asked, his voice tight with anger. "Who were they? Did you get any names?"
