Ember sat alone in Ginny's room, Ginny having gone to get some snacks. It would be her last night at the Burrow before her and
Harry would return to Sirius's house not that his work had slowed down with less frantic parents calling in every disturbance. Ember stared at the list of names in her hand.

She hadn't crossed of anymore names, deciding she didn't want to spend Christmas like that, but she couldn't help but wonder... did the Death Eaters suspect anything? They must of had a meeting by now . . . maybe multiple meetings. Did they suspect her? She had made it clear that the person behind thos had a motive and was targeting specific Death Eaters. Had they put together that the three people she killed were all those who took part in the death of Apollo Horus? Did they know it was her? Would they retaliate? . . . How would they retaliate?

When Ember heard footsteps coming back up the stairs, she quickly hid the list before Ginny entered her room, her arms full snacks and bottles of butter bear.

Ember forgot about her worries as she laughed with Ginny qnd even enjoyed Ginny talking about her problems with Dean so it would distract Ember from her own.

No one could of foreseen what happened next.

Ember was sitting around the breakfast table with Harry and the Weasley, George's arm dropped over the back of her chair. They were laughing about what Fred, Ginny and George all claimed they did to Percy, which was that they made him storm out by throwing mashed parsnip at his glasses. Mrs Weasley wasn't laughing and Percy storming out of the house on Christmas Day had left her very distraught. But the light hearted mood quickly evaporated when Sirius ad Kingsley entered the Burrow, looking incredibly somber.

"What is it?" Bill immediately asked.

Everyone waited, holding their breath.

"Ember, come with me." Sirius said softly.

"What's going on?" Ember asked, scared, as she stood up from the table.

Had they figured out what she had been doing?

Sirius led her into another room and closed the door.

"Sirius." Ember said. "Whst is it?"

"Sit down." Sirius said, his tone still soft as he sat down on a sofa and directed her to do the same.

She did.

They were silent for a moment.

"Ember . . ." Sirius began but stopped, dreading what he had to say.

"What?" Ember said, her tone fearful.

Sirius gently placed his hands on top of hers. "Ember . . . Surrey Hill Orphanage, it – it was attacked by the Death Eaters. They burned it to the ground."

Ember felt her heart stop and her blood run cold. She felt Nymeria go still against her neck.

'Ember.' She linked her softly.
