James laughed "It's fine, she looks cool, why don't you like contacts anyways? I think they're pretty amazing" He patted Jasper's shoulder and smiled

"I once read an article online that said that a woman got a contact stuck on her eye, and SHE DIED" Jasper did signs with his hands, getting away from Ranboo

"She died but not because of that, Jas, contacts don't cause death, they're safe" Raven giggled "Do i look like i'm dying?" They said putting on the other contact 

"Well, actually-" He said

"Ignore the makeup" They laughed "Contacts are cool" 

"Holy crap, it's 11pm!" Ranboo stood up "My parents are going to kill me" he started putting his things inside his backpack

"11pm?!" Piper took a wet wipe and cleaned her makeup, then removed the contacts carefully and placed them in the box, took her stuff and followed Ranboo downstairs "Jasper, you're coming?"

"I asked my mom, she said I could sleep over with Rae" he said

"Niceee" Raven fist bump him "Please, go together, it's late i don't want anything to happen to you guys" 

"ok! See you tomorrow!" 

James and Piper said, he got on his bike and so did Shay. The neighborhood was really quiet, it was cold and peaceful at night. They rode together as they spoke of different things. 

Since Ranboo lived more further away than Piper, she went with him close to his house to make sure he was safe. After that, she'll text him when she was already home

"Hi" James said to his parents as they opened the door quietly

"Who do you think you are?" His mom said angrily, Piper could tell by her tone "You know your curfew is at 10:45 James!" 

"I'm just a little late, I was at Raven's!" He said shaky "You know it, I texted you"

"I know, but that doesn't excuse you, you know the house rules, the only days you can stay out all night are-"

"In my birthday, halloween and new year, I know"  He looked down "Please let me in, it's freezing"  James looked at his mom's eyes again "Don't tell dad, please"

Ranboo's mom looked him up and down, then whispered at him "This is your 3rd time late this month, what's happening, huh?" He didn't answer "You won't answer me?" he didn't "You can't stay here tonight, come back tomorrow  when you learned your lesson" She closed the door

James felt actually bad. He knew he was late for the third time that month, he had friends, that's why. He was always a shy lonely child, until he tried the internet and met friends who lived away from him, but he liked talking to them. No one in his class really liked him, so when he got class transferred, it felt like a new start, and he was glad he met Jasper, Raven and Piper. He had thought he wasn't important, he thought nothing would change if he left, his parents never really reinforced the love they had for him. Yes, they took care of and always worry about him, but James never heard the words 'I love you' from his parents. 

He looked at his phone's lock screen which read "11:18 pm" and a few non important notifications. He sighed heavily and looked to his side, Piper was standing there, with a sad face and he didn't even notice. They stood looking at each other, when she let her bike to the side and walked towards him and hugged him silently

"Ranboo, I'm so sorry" Piper said quietly, he didn't answer but she felt him wrap his arms around him "You can stay in my house tonight if you'd like" She looked up to his face, Ranboo nodded "Let's go, if you need anything i'm here" she held his hand and pointed towards her house

"Thank you...Piper" He got on his bike and followed her to her house.

Piper opened the door and since it was late, she knew Lisa was already asleep, she saw Peter having cereal as dinner while he checked his phone in the kitchen and her parents watching TV on the living room. She obviously wasn't going to sneak Ranboo into her room, so she decided to present him to his parents

"Hi mom" She said quietly as she smiled 

"Oh Piper darling, hello" her mom looked up to her from the couch "Why are you so late?"

"I was at Raven's, we got distracted and didn't notice the time" 

"Well, I trust Rae, so it's fine" Her dad laughed

"by the way, this is my friend James" she introduced him

"Hello" He smiled nervous, still holding his stuff tightly "How are you, sir m'am?"

"It's nice to meet ya son" Ben got up from his seat and shook James's hand "We're glad to have you here"

"Oh wow, thanks" He shook Shay's dad hand firmly "It's an honor to meet you too"

"Of course! Piper's friends are family friends" Her mom smiled "Have you kids eaten anything yet?"

"Ah yes, we ate pizza at Rae's house, thanks mom" piper said "Mom, dad, can we talk for a second in the other room?" 

They exited the room and told James that he could sit on the couch if he wanted to and leave his things at the door. Piper told her parents what happened and they agreed to let him stay, the next day it was the school's halloween fair, so they thought it was fine to let him stay and leave for school together tomorrow.

"You can stay here whenever you want James, if you're close to my sister, you are like family to us" Peter said to him while Piper wasn't there

"Thank you, I appreciate that...you must be Peter, right?" He nodded "Shay has told me about you"

"It's nice to meet you, she talks about you a lot" He took a spoonful of his cereal "Do you have any clothes?" He asked him

"What?"

"I know you're staying the night, it's kinda obvious" he giggled "Do you have clothes for sleeping or tomorrow?" 

"Oh...i mean, i'll probably get the clothes from my house tomorrow morning, but thanks" James smiled in return
